00 · The Business
What Is a UGC Creator?
UGC stands for User-Generated Content. It's short-form video — the kind you scroll past on TikTok and Instagram — that brands use in their paid ads and product pages. The difference between a regular creator and a UGC creator is simple: you're not building an audience. Brands hire you to film the product, deliver the footage, and get paid. Your follower count is irrelevant. What they're buying is authentic-looking phone video that converts better than polished studio ads. You are a freelance video contractor. The product could be a skincare serum, a dog treat, a blender, or a SaaS tool — doesn't matter. You film it, they run it, you move to the next one.
01 · The System
How This System Works
This is not a guide. It is an operating system. Four phases, 30 days, executed in order. Every day has specific tasks, time estimates, and a deliverable. Nothing is filler — every task is tied to getting paid faster. The UGC model works because brands pay for believable phone footage, not your follower count. Your Day 1 portfolio is still landing deals in Month 6 if you build it right.
| Phase | Days | Focus | Goal | Daily Time |
| Phase 1: Foundation | 1–7 | Portfolio, profiles, first applications | 5–7 spec videos, 3 platform profiles | 2–3 hrs |
| Phase 2: Momentum | 8–14 | Application blitz, first paid gig | First paid gig secured ($150+) | 2–3 hrs |
| Phase 3: Growth Engine | 15–21 | AI tools, client ops, outreach 2.0 | 3–5 active clients, $500+ earned | 2–3 hrs |
| Phase 4: Scale & Optimize | 22–30 | Retainers, volume, systems lock-in | $1,500–$2,000/month pace | 2–3 hrs |
Two Paths — Choose on Day 1, Commit for 30 Days
Both paths reach the same income targets. Neither is easier. The difference is on-camera comfort and niche fit. Choose once. Both are present in every phase of this roadmap.
Path A
On-Camera
- Format
- Talking head, testimonial, GRWM, problem/solution story
- Best Niches
- Skincare, beauty, supplements, fitness, fashion, baby
- Equipment
- Phone (front or back cam), natural light, optional tripod
- Avg Rate
- $150–$400/video (face premium in beauty)
- Day 1 Task
- Film 3 talking-head spec videos using household products
- AI Tools
- ChatGPT scripts + CapCut editing
Path B
No-Face
- Format
- Hands demo, unboxing B-roll, overhead, voiceover over product footage
- Best Niches
- Pet, tech accessories, home goods, cleaning, food, B2B SaaS
- Equipment
- Phone (back cam), flat lay surface, optional overhead mount
- Avg Rate
- $150–$350/video (equal in most niches)
- Day 1 Task
- Film 3 hands-only/B-roll spec videos using household products
- AI Tools
- ElevenLabs voiceover + ChatGPT scripts + CapCut
02 · The Numbers
The Money Math
Every pricing and outreach decision flows from these numbers. Know them before Day 1.
Critical
Platform floors are real: Billo pays creators ~70% of $99/video = ~$69/video. JoinBrands floor is $60+/video. Do NOT price below $150 in direct outreach — undercutting locks you into a low-rate trap and signals low quality. Charge market rate from Day 1.
Income Timeline — Real Creator Data (2026)
| Milestone | Income Range | How to Get There |
| Day 14 | First paid gig ($150–$400) | 3 platform apps/day + 10 DMs/day from Day 1 |
| Day 30 | $200–$700 (2–5 gigs) | Consistent applications + first direct outreach responses |
| Day 60 | $1,000–$2,000 | Repeat clients + first bundles/retainer negotiations |
| Day 90 | $2,000–$3,000 | 2–3 retainers + consistent one-off gigs |
| Month 6 | $3,000–$6,000 | Retainer compounding + AI-assisted volume + rights upsells |
Key Insight
Reality check: Day 90 at $2K–$3K requires consistent outreach (30+ contacts/day weeks 1–2, 20+/day ongoing), multiple active clients, and at least one retainer. Creators who hit this target are outreach machines first, videographers second.
Beginner Rate Sheet (Use from Day 1)
| Package | Price | Includes | Turnaround |
| Single Video | $150 | 15–30s vertical MP4, 2 revisions, organic + 30-day paid rights | 3–5 days |
| 3-Video Bundle | $350 | 3 videos (mixed formats), 2 rev each, full paid rights 30 days | 5–7 days |
| 5-Video Pack | $600 | 5 videos, 2 rev each, full paid rights, 1 free variation per video | 7–10 days |
| Usage Rights Upsell | +25–30% | Organic included → 30-day paid ads add-on | — |
| 6-Month Rights | +40% | 6 months paid ad usage on any platform | — |
| 12-Month Rights | +50% | 12 months paid ad usage on any platform | — |
| Retainer (4 vids/mo) | $1,200/mo | 4 videos, 3-month minimum, 2 rev each, monthly rights | Ongoing |
| Retainer (8 vids/mo) | $2,200/mo | 8 videos, 3-month minimum, full rights, priority delivery | Ongoing |
Pro Tip
Retainer math to $3,000/month: 1 retainer at $1,200 (4 videos) + 1 retainer at $2,200 (8 videos) = $3,400/month from just 2 clients. Add one-off gigs and you clear $4K. Target retainer conversion after your 2nd successful delivery to each brand.
03 · Positioning
Niche Domination Plan
Choose 1–2 niches by end of Day 1. You will film spec videos in these niches, build your platform profiles around them, and pitch them in every DM and application. Generalist creators lose to specialists every time at beginner rates.
Day 1 Niche Decision Framework — 4 Questions
- Do you have products in this category at home right now? → YES = film today. NO = lower priority unless you can source in 24 hours.
- Are you comfortable being on camera for this niche? → If NO → Path B (no-face). Hands/voiceover work equally well in most niches.
- Is the niche in the High or Medium paying tier below? → Skincare/supplements > Pet/Tech > Home/Food. Higher tier = faster to $2K/month.
- Is your identity/context authentic to this niche? → Pet owner filming pet products. Parent filming baby products. Real context = higher response rates.

Phase 1 · Days 1–7
Foundation
Goal: portfolio live, profiles active, first 20+ applications sent.
3
Platform Profiles Active
Day01
Path Choice + Niche Selection + AI Stack Setup
Phase 1
Foundation
2–3 hrs
- Choose your path right now: Scroll up to the Two Paths table. PATH A (on-camera) or PATH B (no-face). Circle your choice. Every task today has both versions — execute yours.
- Run the 4-question Niche Decision Framework: Pick 2 niches from the Niche Master List that you have products for at home. Write them down. These are your niches for the next 30 days.
- Set up your $0 AI stack: Create free accounts at chat.openai.com (ChatGPT free tier is sufficient for Day 1–14) and capcut.com (download mobile or desktop app). Both are free, no credit card.
- Open ChatGPT. Type this prompt exactly: "Write 5 UGC video scripts for [your niche] products. Each script is 20–30 seconds, hook-first, natural language, no corporate tone. Format: Hook | Body | CTA. Target a real consumer, not a brand." Save these scripts in a Google Doc.
- Follow 12 UGC creators on X: @aprilssdiary, @justineugc, @ugc_roster, @ChelseaUGC, @UgcAng, @ugcvince187, @UGCTiff, @makeugc, @anaperezworld, @myjo_urney, @5foottraveler, @ugcwithbryan. DM one: "Just starting UGC — any quick tip for first gig?" High response rate.
- Set up your delivery folder on Google Drive: Create
/UGC_Business → /Portfolio → /Client_[BrandName] → /Delivered. Inside each client folder: /Raw_Files, /Edited, /Final_Delivery.
- PATH A (On-Camera): Film a 15-second selfie video introducing yourself + the niche you'll cover. Natural light only. Don't overthink it.
- PATH B (No-Face): Set up your filming surface (clean table, white or neutral background). Film a 15-second hands-only test video with any product.
Output by end of day
Path chosen and written down. 2 niches selected. ChatGPT account live with 5 scripts saved. CapCut downloaded. 12 creators followed on X. Google Drive folder structure created.
Day02
Build Your Spec Portfolio — Part 1
Phase 1Foundation
3 hrs
Spec videos are mock UGC filmed with products you own. Brands evaluate these before hiring you. You need 5–7 polished spec videos before Day 5 applications. Film 3 today. Quality over quantity — these are your audition tape.
- Gather products from your home: 3 products in your target niche. If you don't have them: dollar store ($3–$5 total), Amazon returns, borrowed items. No need to buy anything over $10.
- Phone settings before filming: iPhone: Settings → Camera → Record Video → 4K at 30fps. Stabilization ON. Grid ON. Android: Camera → Settings → 1080p minimum, stabilization ON. Clean your lens. The #1 mistake beginners skip.
- Natural light setup: Position yourself or your product surface facing a window. Overcast > direct sun. Night: 2 lamps at 45-degree angles. No ring light needed yet.
- Film Video 1 — Unboxing format: Open the product fresh (or re-wrap). Film the open, reveal, first touch. 15–20 seconds. No script needed. Natural reactions. Film 5 takes.
- Film Video 2 — Demo / Product in use: Show the product being used in its natural context. 20–30 seconds. Path A: talk through what you're doing. Path B: hands only with CapCut voiceover added later.
- Film Video 3 — Hook + benefit focus: Open with a visual hook (product close-up or action). Use one of your ChatGPT scripts from Day 1. Film 3–5 takes for each.
- Import all takes into CapCut: New Project → select all takes. Do NOT edit yet — just import and review. Mark your best take per video. Tomorrow you edit.
Pro Tip
Film 5–8 takes per video. Brands want natural, imperfect energy — not rehearsed perfection. The worst take you shoot is usually better than no take at all. Volume beats hesitation.
Output by end of day
3 spec videos filmed (raw, unedited). Best takes marked in CapCut. At minimum: 1 unboxing, 1 demo, 1 hook-driven video.
Day03
Edit Portfolio Videos + Portfolio Hosting Setup
Phase 1Foundation
2.5 hrs
- Edit Video 1 in CapCut (free): Trim to 15–25 seconds. Add auto-captions: Text → Auto Caption → select style. Add 1 royalty-free music track from CapCut's free library (volume 20–30%). Export: 1080×1920, MP4, 'High' quality. Under 80MB.
- Edit Video 2: Path A: trim, captions, music. Path B: add voiceover. For Path B in CapCut: Add Audio → Text to Speech → paste your script → select natural voice. Adjust volume to 70% of total mix.
- Edit Video 3: Same process. Add 1 text overlay with the hook (first 3 seconds). Use CapCut's Text feature → bold, white, black stroke, center top of frame.
- Technical specs check: Aspect ratio 9:16 vertical ONLY. Resolution 1080×1920. Format MP4 H.264. File size under 100MB. Audio clear, no echo, no background noise.
- Set up Carrd portfolio (free at carrd.co): Blank template → add your creator name, niche specialties, 3 embedded portfolio video thumbnails with Google Drive links, rate starting at $150, contact email. Publish. Copy the URL.
- Upload videos to Google Drive portfolio folder: Create a shareable 'Portfolio' folder. Set to 'Anyone with link can view'. Upload all 3 edited MP4s + 3 thumbnail screenshots. This link goes in every DM, platform profile, and email.
- Film 2 more spec videos (different products/formats). You need 5–7 total by Day 5. Film today while you have the setup ready.
Output by end of day
3 edited spec videos live in Google Drive portfolio folder. Carrd portfolio published with URL. Technical specs verified: 9:16, 1080×1920, MP4, under 100MB each.
Day04
Platform Profile Setup — Billo + JoinBrands
Phase 1Foundation
2 hrs
Billo is your #1 Day 1–30 platform. No following required. Creator cut ~70% of $99/video. First gig possible in 3–7 days once approved. JoinBrands has 20,000+ brands and pays $60+ per video. Both are free to join. Set them up today.
Billo Setup (billo.app)
- Go to billo.app → 'Become a Creator' → create account with your email.
- Complete your profile 100%: Upload a clear headshot (Path A) or product-focused profile image (Path B). Bio formula: "[Niche 1] + [Niche 2] UGC creator | iPhone-only authentic content | Fast 3-day delivery | 2+ revisions included." Under 100 characters.
- Film your Billo pitch video (CRITICAL): 30–45 seconds. Path A: talk to camera, say your name, niches, hold up a product. Path B: show hands-on-product, voiceover introduces your style. This determines if Billo approves your account. Review takes 7 business days.
- Upload 3 portfolio samples inside Billo's profile section.
JoinBrands Setup (joinbrands.com)
- Go to joinbrands.com → 'Join as Creator' → complete signup.
- Profile setup: Photo, bio (same formula as Billo), upload 3 portfolio samples. Select 3–5 niches. Add your social handles (even if small — helps ranking).
- Complete JoinBrands certifications: Dashboard → 'Certifications'. Complete the free UGC Creator and Brand Safety certs. These increase invite frequency significantly.
- Apply to 5 active briefs today: 'Browse Campaigns' → filter by niche. Custom 2-sentence pitch for each: "I create [niche] UGC that [specific brand benefit]. Here's my portfolio: [link]." Never send a blank application.
Output by end of day
Billo pitch video submitted (awaiting approval). JoinBrands profile 100% complete with certifications. 5 JoinBrands applications sent with custom pitches. Both profiles have 3+ portfolio samples.
Day05
Fiverr Gig Setup + First Application Blitz
Phase 1Foundation
2.5 hrs
Fiverr Setup (fiverr.com)
- Create Fiverr account → 'Become a Seller' → complete profile.
- Gig title formula (proven converter): "I will create authentic UGC videos for TikTok and Instagram ads" — use these exact words. Highest-ranking gig title in the UGC category.
- Gig packages: Basic $75 (1 video, 15–30s, organic rights, 1 revision, 5-day delivery). Standard $150 (1 video, 30–60s, paid ad rights 30 days, 2 revisions, 3-day delivery). Premium $275 (3 videos mixed formats, full paid rights 60 days, 2 rev each, 5-day delivery).
- Gig thumbnail: Screenshot of your best spec video. White text overlay: "AUTHENTIC UGC VIDEOS". Bright, high-contrast, product visible.
- Gig description structure: Line 1: Hook ("Looking for raw iPhone UGC that actually converts?"). Lines 2–4: 3 bullet deliverables. Lines 5–6: niche specialties. Line 7: "100% iPhone-filmed, royalty-free music, delivered as MP4 H.264."
- Publish gig. Goes live immediately — no approval needed.
Application Blitz
- Apply to 15 more JoinBrands campaigns today. Total: 20 applications by end of Day 5.
- Check Billo daily at 9am from now on. Set a phone reminder. Brands post briefs daily. Early applications have highest selection rate.
Output by end of day
Fiverr gig published and live. 20+ total JoinBrands applications sent. Billo pitch video submitted. Daily 9am Billo check reminder set.
Day06
Direct Outreach Launch — Instagram DM Campaign
Phase 1Foundation
2 hrs
Platform applications are passive. Direct outreach is active. Start Instagram DMs today alongside platforms. Target: 10 DMs today, 10/day through Day 14.
- Find brands to DM: Search "[your niche] brand", "[your niche] shop", "[your niche] skincare". Filter: 1K–100K followers (big enough budget, small enough to read DMs). Look for 'Shop Now' in bio. List 20 targets in Google Sheets.
- Outreach tracker columns: Brand Name | IG Handle | Email (if found) | Date DMed | Date Followed Up | Status (No Reply / Responded / In Negotiation / Paid) | Notes.
- Path A DM script: "Hey [Brand] — love your [specific product or post]. I create on-camera UGC for [niche] brands — raw iPhone content that converts on TikTok/Meta ads. Here's my portfolio: [link]. Happy to create a test video at $150. Open to a brief?"
- Path B DM script: "Hey [Brand] — loved your [specific product]. I create clean no-face UGC (hands/product focus) that converts on TikTok/Reels. Here's my portfolio: [link]. I'd love to create a test video for $150. Open to a brief?"
- Send 10 DMs today. Best response times: Tue–Thu, 10am–2pm.
- Follow up rule: Day 3 and Day 7 after no response. Day 3: "Hey [Brand] — following up on my last message. Happy to send a free 10-second test clip — no strings. Interested?" Day 7: final follow-up then move on.
Output by end of day
10 DMs sent and logged in Google Sheets outreach tracker. 20 target brands identified. Follow-up schedule set in tracker.
Day07
Week 1 Review + First Cold Emails
Phase 1Foundation
2 hrs
- Week 1 audit: Portfolio: 5–7 spec videos edited and hosted? Billo: pitch video submitted? JoinBrands: 20+ applications? Fiverr: gig live? DMs: 10 sent? If any NO — today is catch-up day, not cold email day.
- Cold email setup (if audit passes): Find brand emails: Instagram bio, website footer, hello@brand.com. Use hunter.io (free tier: 25 searches/month) to verify.
- Cold email template:
Subject: UGC Video for [Brand Name] — iPhone-Only, Converts on Ads
Hi [Name or "team"],
I'm a [niche] UGC creator who films authentic iPhone content for brands running TikTok and Meta ads. No studio, no filters — just the raw style that converts.
Portfolio: [Carrd link] | Rate: $150/video | Turnaround: 3–5 days
Would a test video make sense? Happy to start at $150 — one video, zero risk.
[Your name]
- Send 10 cold emails today. Log all in Google Sheets.
- Edit and publish your final 2 spec videos: 5–7 total by end of today. Update Carrd and Google Drive portfolio.
- Facebook group outreach: Join 'UGC Creator Community/UGC Opportunities From Brands & Agencies' and 'UGC Creator Jobs — UGCcreator.com'. Comment with portfolio link on any brand posting. Do NOT post self-promo in main feed — comment only.
Output by end of day
Week 1 audit complete. 5–7 edited spec videos in portfolio. 10 cold emails sent. Facebook UGC groups joined. Total outreach to date: 20+ platform apps + 10 DMs + 10 emails.
Phase 2 · Days 8–14
Momentum
Goal: first paid gig secured within 14 days.
Day08
Application Blitz — 50 Total Platform Applications
Phase 2Momentum
3 hrs
This is the highest-leverage day in the entire roadmap. Most beginners stop at 5–10 applications and wonder why they have no gigs. The data is clear: 30–50 applications in week 2 = first gig in 7–14 days. This is a numbers game. Execute it.
- Billo application sprint (90 minutes): Log in at 9am. Browse ALL active briefs. Apply to every brief in your niche AND adjacent niches (skincare → wellness, supplements, beauty tools). Custom pitch each: 1 sentence specific to brief + portfolio link. Target: 15 Billo applications.
- JoinBrands application sprint (60 minutes): Filter by your niches. Apply to 20 campaigns. For JoinBrands, your profile does the heavy lifting — focused 2-sentence pitch is all that's needed.
- DM outreach (30 minutes): 10 Instagram DMs using Day 6 scripts. Look for brands that posted in the last 48 hours — more likely to have active marketing budgets.
- Check Day 3 and Day 7 follow-ups: Any DMs sent on Day 6 with no reply get a Day 3 follow-up today.
Output by end of day
50+ total platform applications submitted (cumulative). 10 more Instagram DMs sent. Follow-up messages sent to Day 6 unanswered DMs.
Day09
Outreach Scaling + Script Optimization
Phase 2Momentum
2.5 hrs
- Review all platform application responses: Any brand that replied? Respond within 1 hour. Speed of response is a key signal. If they asked a question, answer directly + reattach portfolio link.
- ChatGPT script upgrade: Prompt: "Rewrite these 5 UGC scripts with stronger hooks. Hook must create curiosity or pattern interrupt in first 3 words. Keep body natural and CTA simple." Paste your Day 1 scripts. Save new versions.
- Film 2 new spec videos using upgraded scripts: Use your best ChatGPT hook. Film Path A or B as normal. Keeps your portfolio fresh and proves ongoing production ability.
- DM 10 more brands on Instagram. Keep logging in tracker.
- Check Facebook UGC groups for fresh brand postings: Comment with portfolio link on any brand or agency posting a "looking for creators" message.
Output by end of day
All platform replies responded to within 1 hour. 2 new spec videos filmed. 10 more DMs sent. Facebook group comments posted on new brand requests.
Day10
First $500 Emergency Protocol
Phase 2Momentum
2 hrs
If you have no gig by Day 10 — this is not a signal to quit. It is a signal to add one more acquisition channel. Execute this protocol today alongside your normal outreach.
The First $500 Protocol — Step by Step
- Reddit outreach: r/UGCcreators weekly collab thread: "UGC creator available — [niche 1] and [niche 2] specialist, portfolio: [link], $150/video, 3-day turnaround." Also r/Entrepreneur and r/smallbusiness: same message framed as "video content for ads."
- Price drop tactic (one-time only): Offer your first 2 direct outreach clients $99 for their first video. Lead with: "First video at $99 — then standard $150 going forward. No strings." This removes the risk barrier. You'll usually get standard rate on video 2.
- Expand niche targeting on DMs: If you've been DM-ing only your primary niche — expand to 2 adjacent niches today. Skincare → wellness + supplements. Pet → home goods + baby. Double your pool.
- Re-apply to any Billo/JoinBrands briefs from Days 4–8 with no response: If still active and you applied 5+ days ago, apply again with a new pitch angle. Brands often miss applications.
- Instagram Story tactic: Post to your personal Story: "Creating UGC for brands — here are 3 videos I made this week. DM me if you know any brands looking for content." Tag 2–3 products. Warm audience outreach has 3–5× higher response than cold.
Output by end of day
Reddit posts live in 3 communities. Price-drop offer sent to 5 direct outreach targets. Expanded niche DM list built. Re-applications sent to still-active briefs.
Day11
Film Once, Deliver Six — The Core Production Method
Phase 2Momentum
3 hrs
This is the most important production insight in this roadmap. One 60-second base video → six billable deliverables → $200–$500+ per filming session. Master this method and your effective hourly rate triples.
The Film Once, Deliver Six Method
| Deliverable | Format | Length | What Changes | Billed As |
| 1. Full Video | Vertical 9:16 | 45–60s | Master file | Included in base rate |
| 2. Short Cut | Vertical 9:16 | 15–20s | Trim to hook + CTA | +$50–$75 add-on |
| 3. Hook Variation A | Vertical 9:16 | 15–30s | Different opening 3 seconds | +$50–$75 add-on |
| 4. Hook Variation B | Vertical 9:16 | 15–30s | Second different hook | +$50–$75 add-on |
| 5. Square Cut | 1:1 | 15–30s | Reframed for Facebook feed | +$50 add-on |
| 6. Horizontal Cut | 16:9 | 15–30s | Reframed for YouTube pre-roll | +$50 add-on |
- Film your first 'Film Once, Deliver Six' base video: Use a product from your portfolio collection. Film one clean 60-second take (multiple takes as backup). Natural light, stable setup.
- Create all 6 deliverables in CapCut: Import master. Duplicate project 5 times. Edit each to its deliverable spec. Export each separately. Name files:
BrandName_VideoType_V1.mp4
- Price this as a bundle offer in your outreach: "I can deliver 6 ad-ready variations from one filming session for $350." Brands love this because it gives them 6 test angles for less than 2 individual videos.
Output by end of day
One Film Once, Deliver Six base video filmed and all 6 deliverables exported. Bundle offer language added to DM script and Fiverr gig description.
Day12
Retainer Transition + Rate Upsell Training
Phase 2Momentum
2 hrs
- The retainer conversion script (memorize this): After 1–2 successful deliveries: "Hey [Brand], loved working together — the content came out great. Would you be open to a monthly retainer? I can do 4 videos/month for $1,200 — saves you time finding new creators and locks in consistent content. 3-month minimum. Interested?"
- Usage rights upsell script: When delivering: "Quick note — the current delivery includes organic rights + 30 days paid ads. If you want to run it longer, 6-month rights are +40% ($X). Just let me know before you run ads past Day 30."
- Bundle upsell script: After first video: "If you want 2 more variations of this style, I can turn them around in 3 days for $200 — normally $150 each. Want to add those?"
- Retainer math exercise — calculate YOUR $3K/month path:
- Option A: 3 × $1,200 retainer (4 videos each) = $3,600/mo, 12 videos/mo
- Option B: 2 × $2,200 retainer (8 videos each) = $4,400/mo, 16 videos/mo
- Option C: 1 retainer + 10 one-off gigs = variable
Choose Option A or B as your goal.
Output by end of day
Retainer, usage rights, and bundle upsell scripts saved and ready to deploy. Personal $3K/month retainer math calculated and written down.
Day13
Contract + Invoicing System Setup
Phase 2Momentum
2 hrs
- Contract must-have clauses (Google Doc template):
- Scope: exact number of videos, format, length
- Payment: 50% upfront via PayPal/Stripe before filming starts. Balance on delivery.
- Revisions: 2 rounds included. Additional: $50 each.
- Usage rights: specify duration and platforms explicitly.
- FTC disclosure: only required if creator posts to own account (Model B).
- Termination: client can cancel before filming, not after footage is shot.
- Late payment: work stops after 7 days unpaid.
- Set up Wave (free at waveapps.com): Business → add your name + 'UGC Creator Services'. Invoice template: line items = '1× UGC Video – [Product] – $150'. Set payment to PayPal or Stripe link. Auto-reminder: 7 days after due date.
- Payment rule for all direct clients: 50% upfront, no exceptions. Send invoice before any filming begins. If a brand won't pay 50% upfront on a first order — walk away. This protects you.
- FTC disclosure rules for UGC creators:
- Pure UGC (you film, brand posts): NO disclosure required from you.
- Model B (you post to your own account): "#ad" or "Paid partnership" REQUIRED.
- When in doubt: disclose. FTC enforcement applies to the brand primarily, but creator risk exists.
Output by end of day
Contract template saved in Google Drive. Wave invoicing account live with template invoice. 50% upfront policy set as your non-negotiable standard.
Day14
Week 2 Review + First Gig Delivery Protocol
Phase 2Momentum
2 hrs
- Week 2 audit: First paid gig? If YES — deliver using protocol below. If NO — check: 15+ briefs/day applied? 10+ brands DM'd/day? Did you film Day 11's Film Once Deliver Six bundle? Most Day 14 no-gig situations = insufficient outreach volume, not insufficient quality.
- First gig delivery protocol:
- Receive brief. Read it 3 times before filming.
- Confirm: product is in hand, brief requirements clear.
- Film: 5–8 takes. Natural light. Phone stabilized.
- Edit in CapCut: trim, captions, music (royalty-free from CapCut library only).
- Export: MP4 H.264, 1080×1920, under 100MB.
- Upload to Google Drive delivery folder. Share link with password.
- Message brand: "Your video is ready: [link]. Password: [password]. Please review — I'm here for any feedback!"
- Common rejection triggers to AVOID: Wrong aspect ratio (must be 9:16). Copyright music. Over-editing/filters. Not following the brief. Audio echo or background noise. File over 100MB.
- After approval — ask for testimonial: "So glad you loved it! Would you mind leaving a quick review on [Billo/JoinBrands/Fiverr]? It really helps me land more brand partnerships."
Output by end of day
Week 2 audit complete. If gig received: first delivery sent using exact protocol. If no gig: outreach volume audited and gaps filled. Testimonial request template ready.
Phase 3 · Days 15–21
Growth Engine
Goal: 3–5 active clients, $500+ earned.
Day15
Production Workflow Optimization
Phase 3Growth

Phone-to-Delivery Workflow
| Step | Task | Time | Tool |
| 1 | Receive brief and read 3×. Highlight key deliverables. | 5 min | Email/platform |
| 2 | Open ChatGPT. Generate 3 script options using the brief. | 5 min | ChatGPT free |
| 3 | Select best script. Read aloud once. Make conversational. | 3 min | — |
| 4 | Set up filming space: window light, clean background, phone stabilized. | 5 min | Phone |
| 5 | Film 5–8 takes. Keep best 2. | 15 min | Phone camera |
| 6 | Import into CapCut. Trim best take to target length. | 5 min | CapCut free |
| 7 | Add auto-captions, royalty-free music, text overlays if needed. | 8 min | CapCut free |
| 8 | Export: MP4 H.264, 1080×1920, under 100MB. | 3 min | CapCut free |
| 9 | Upload to Google Drive delivery folder. Share link. | 3 min | Google Drive |
| 10 | Message client with delivery link + revision offer. | 3 min | Email/DM |
- Practice the full workflow today with a new spec video. Time yourself from brief receipt (use a spec brief you write) to delivery folder upload. Target: under 60 minutes total.
- Create a reusable filming checklist in your phone Notes: Lens clean ✓ | 4K 30fps ✓ | Stabilization on ✓ | Grid on ✓ | Window light ✓ | Background clean ✓ | Script reviewed ✓ | 5+ takes filmed ✓
Output by end of day
Full phone-to-delivery workflow timed and under 90 minutes. Filming checklist saved in phone. New spec video delivered to portfolio.
Day16
Advanced Platform Strategy
Phase 3Growth
2.5 hrs
Platform Ladder — How to Move Up Each Platform's Ranking
| Platform | How to Rank Higher | Rate Upgrade Path | When to Deprioritize |
| Billo | 14 approved videos + 4.8+ rating + 90% on-time = Premium Creator status | Premium creators access higher-rate briefs ($99+ → $150+) | Day 90+ once direct deals are primary |
| JoinBrands | Complete certs + earn ratings + accept more campaign types (photo + video) | Creator Pro = 15% fee vs 20%. More invite frequency. | Keep active — good for consistent volume |
| Fiverr | 5-star reviews + response rate >90% + on-time delivery = Seller level badges | Level 1 (10 orders) → Level 2 (50 orders) = higher search ranking | Secondary — use for inbound only after Level 1 |
| Direct Outreach | Portfolio + speed + niche specialization | Set your own rates — no platform fee | Never deprioritize — this is your income ceiling |
- Apply to 15 more Billo briefs today. Keep your streak active.
- Apply to 15 more JoinBrands campaigns today.
- Send 10 more Instagram DMs using the Film Once Deliver Six pitch: "I can deliver 6 ad variations from one filming session for $350 — saves you testing time. Portfolio: [link]. Open to a brief?"
Output by end of day
30 more platform applications sent. DM outreach continued. Platform ladder strategy understood.
Day17
AI Tool Integration — ElevenLabs + CapCut Pro
Phase 3Growth
2.5 hrs
At Day 17, you should have earned enough to justify a $25–$50/month tool investment. If you have $0 income still, stay on the $0 stack and double down on outreach. These tools save time — they don't replace outreach.
$25–$50/Month Stack — What to Get and Why
| Tool | Cost | What It Unlocks | ROI Trigger |
| ElevenLabs Starter | $5/mo | Professional voiceovers for Path B no-face videos. 10 min audio/month. Natural-sounding AI voice. | 1 no-face video with pro VO = $150 covered |
| CapCut Pro | $8–$10/mo | Premium templates, auto-remove background, advanced AI captions, no watermark on exports. | 2 gigs cover 6+ months |
| ChatGPT Plus | $20/mo | GPT-4 for better scripts, longer context, image analysis of brand materials, faster generation. | Optional — free tier works for Day 1–30 |
ElevenLabs Voiceover Workflow (Path B creators)
- Go to elevenlabs.io. Sign up for free tier (10,000 chars/month).
- Go to Text to Speech. Paste your ChatGPT script.
- Select a voice: 'Rachel' or 'Josh' for natural US English. Preview before committing.
- Download the MP3. Import into CapCut as audio track.
- Sync voiceover to your hands/product footage. Adjust timing in CapCut.
- Result: professional no-face video with broadcast-quality voiceover at $0–$5/month.
Output by end of day
ElevenLabs account created (free tier). First AI voiceover video created for Path B, OR first CapCut Pro-enhanced video created for Path A. New video added to portfolio.
Day18
Client Operations System Build
Phase 3Growth
2 hrs
- Build your Google Sheets Client Tracker. Columns: Client Name | Platform | Niche | Brief Received Date | Deadline | Videos Owed | Videos Delivered | Payment Status | Total Paid | Revision Rounds Used | Notes.
- Product logistics system: Running list of products received from brands. For each: Brand name | Product | Received date | Used in video | Can keep?. Brands ship products in 80% of cases. Always confirm shipping address in first reply.
- Revision policy (enforce from Day 1): 2 revisions included in all packages. Additional revisions: $50 each, billed upfront. New concept (completely different direction): new video fee. State this in every contract and delivery message.
- Communication SLA: All brand messages: respond within 4 hours during business hours. This single habit separates top creators from the rest. Brands pay premium for reliable communicators.
Output by end of day
Client tracker Google Sheet built and active. Product logistics list started. Revision policy in contract template. 4-hour response SLA committed to.
Day19
Portfolio v2.0 + Case Study Creation
Phase 3Growth
2.5 hrs
- Update your Carrd portfolio: Replace your weakest spec videos with your 3 best paid-work videos (if you have them) or your most polished spec videos. Aim for 5–7 portfolio videos total.
- Create a one-page case study for your best video. Format: Hook used → Brief requirements → Video style chosen → Brand feedback (if any). Even for spec work: "Brand: skincare brand targeting 25–35F. Hook: showed product mid-application. Result: brand feedback or self-assessment." Brands value process over raw portfolio.
- Canva media kit (1 page): Simple 1-page PDF: Creator photo/logo, 2 niche specialties, 3 video thumbnails, rate starting at $150, portfolio URL, contact email. This is your "leave behind" for direct outreach. Export as PDF.
- Update all platform profiles with new portfolio videos.
Output by end of day
Portfolio v2.0 live on Carrd with 5–7 polished videos. 1 case study created. 1-page PDF media kit exported from Canva. All platform profiles updated.
Day20
Outreach 2.0 — Cold Email System
Phase 3Growth
2 hrs
- Build a cold email list of 50 brands. Method: Google "[niche] brand USA Shopify", "[niche] DTC brand Instagram". Find 50 brands with email on website or hello@brand.com format. Use hunter.io free tier to verify. Add to Google Sheets: Brand | Email | IG Handle | Date Emailed | Status.
- Email 10 brands today using the Day 7 cold email template.
- A/B test subject lines: Version A: "UGC Video for [Brand] — 3-day delivery". Version B: "Quick question about [Brand]'s content strategy". Send 5 of each. Track open rates (Gmail: install Mailtrack free extension).
- DM 10 brands. Send 10 emails. Log all in tracker.
Output by end of day
50-brand cold email list built. 10 emails sent with A/B subject line test. 10 DMs sent. All tracked in Google Sheets.
Day21
Week 3 Review + Weekly Operating System
Phase 3Growth
1.5 hrs
- Week 3 audit: Total earned to date? Total active clients? Platform application total (should be 100+)? DMs sent total (should be 60+)? Emails sent (should be 20+)? If income is $0 at Day 21: the problem is 95% outreach volume, 5% portfolio quality.
Weekly Operating System (Weeks 3+) — 10–15 Hours/Week
| Day | Block 1 (Morning) | Block 2 (Afternoon) | Block 3 (Evening) |
| Monday | 15 platform applications (1 hr) | 10 Instagram DMs (30 min) | Follow-up emails (30 min) |
| Tuesday | Film day: 2–3 videos (2 hrs) | Edit + export (1 hr) | Deliver + invoice (30 min) |
| Wednesday | 15 platform apps (1 hr) | 10 cold emails (30 min) | Client comms (30 min) |
| Thursday | Film day: 2–3 videos (2 hrs) | Edit + export (1 hr) | Deliver (30 min) |
| Friday | 10 DMs + 5 emails (45 min) | Outreach follow-ups (30 min) | Weekly review (30 min) |
| Sat/Sun | Optional: batch film 3–4 videos | Optional: spec portfolio updates | Rest |
Output by end of day
Week 3 audit complete. Weekly operating system committed to and scheduled in your calendar. Week 4 targets set: 5+ active clients, $500+ earned, 1 retainer conversation initiated.
Phase 4 · Days 22–30
Scale & Optimize
Goal: $1,500–$2,000/month pace.
Days22–23
Volume Sprint + Retainer Conversion Push
Phase 4Scale
3 hrs/day
- Days 22–23 are pure volume execution:
- Day 22: 20 platform applications + 15 DMs + 10 cold emails.
- Day 23: 20 platform applications + 15 DMs + 10 cold emails.
No new system building. Execute the system you have.
- Retainer conversion push: Any client who has received 2+ videos from you this month — send the retainer script from Day 12. Target: 1 retainer conversation started by end of Day 23.
- Batch filming day (Day 22): Pick 2 products. Film 3 base videos for each = 6 base videos. Edit 3 today, edit 3 tomorrow. This is your Film Once Deliver Six method at scale.
Output by end of day
40+ applications sent across Days 22–23. 30 DMs sent. 20 emails sent. 1 retainer conversation initiated. 6 base videos filmed.
Day24
AI Upgrade Decision Point
Phase 4Scale
2 hrs
Day 24 is your first AI investment decision. The threshold: if you've earned $500+ and are delivering 4+ videos/week, the $100–$200/month AI stack pays for itself immediately.
$100–$200/Month AI Stack (Day 24+)
| Tool | Cost/Month | What It Does | Best For |
| Arcads | $99–$149 | Generate realistic AI avatar UGC from product URL. 50+ avatars, multilingual. | Brands wanting cheap variation testing |
| Creatify | $29–$99 | URL-to-video automation. Paste product link → 10 ad variations in minutes. | Volume production for ecom brands |
| HeyGen | $29–$89 | Custom AI avatar UGC. Train on your face or use stock avatars. | Path B creators wanting AI scale |
| ElevenLabs Pro | $22/mo | 30 min audio/month, higher quality voices, voice cloning from your own voice. | Path B professional voiceover |
Important
Billo and JoinBrands reject pure AI submissions on human-only briefs. NEVER submit AI-generated video to a brief that requires a real human creator. Use AI tools ONLY for direct outreach clients who explicitly agree to AI-hybrid content, or for Arcads/Creatify platform campaigns specifically designed for AI content.
Output by end of day
AI upgrade decision made (invest or stay $0 stack based on income). If investing: one AI tool account created and first test video generated.
Day25
Advanced Rights + Rate Card Overhaul
Phase 4Scale
2 hrs
- Update your rate card for Day 25+:
- Single video: $175 (up from $150)
- 3-pack: $450
- 5-pack: $750
Rationale: you have reviews, a track record, and proven delivery. Rate increases are earned, not arbitrary.
- Add usage rights explicitly to every new proposal:
- Standard: organic + 30-day paid ads (included)
- 6-month upgrade: +40%
- 12-month: +50%
- Whitelisting/Spark Ads: +$200/month
- Perpetual: +100%
- Introduce usage rights in the retainer conversation: "This retainer includes 12-month rights on all videos. That's normally a $50/video add-on — included in your monthly rate. Renews annually."
Output by end of day
Rate card updated to Day 25+ rates. Usage rights language added to contract template. New rate card shared with 5 active outreach targets.
Day26
Bookkeeping + Tax System Setup
Phase 4Scale
1.5 hrs
- Set up your income tracking Google Sheet. Columns: Date | Client | Platform | Videos Delivered | Rate | Total Invoice | Amount Paid | Outstanding | Category (platform / direct / retainer).
- Tax set-aside rule: Set aside 25–30% of every payment into a separate savings account immediately. US: sole proprietors pay quarterly estimated taxes. First payment due: April 15 for Jan–Mar income.
- Business deductibles to track: Phone (% used for business). Internet (% used for business). CapCut Pro, ElevenLabs, ChatGPT Plus. Ring light, tripod, microphone. Home office space (sq footage ratio). Products you buy for spec work.
- Business structure decision: Under $20K/year: sole proprietor is fine. $20K+/year: consult an accountant about LLC (protects personal assets, can elect S-Corp tax treatment). 1099 threshold: platforms send 1099-K when you earn $600+/year through them.
Output by end of day
Income tracking Google Sheet built and up to date with all earnings to date. 25–30% tax set-aside account created. Deductible categories list saved.
Day27
Platform Diversification + Agency Outreach
Phase 4Scale
2 hrs
- Platform diversification rule: Never let one platform exceed 60% of your income. Target: platforms 60% + direct 40%. By Day 90: flip it — direct 60% + platforms 40%. This protects you from platform fee changes.
- Insense setup (now you're ready): insense.pro → 'Join as Creator'. Insense serves enterprise DTC brands. Higher budgets, slower matching (10–15 days), but larger contract values. Upload 7+ portfolio samples. This is your Day 90+ primary platform.
- Agency cold email (10 emails today): Search "[city] social media agency", "[niche] marketing agency". Email: "I create UGC video content for [niche] brands. Do you have clients who need authentic iPhone-style ad content? I can white-label my work — your brand, my production. Portfolio: [link]. Rate from $150/video."
Output by end of day
Platform income diversification tracked. Insense profile created. 10 agency cold emails sent. Agency outreach tracker column added to Google Sheets.
Day28
Systems Lock-In + Subcontracting Prep
Phase 4Scale
2 hrs
- Weekly operating system locked in: Your Monday–Friday schedule from Day 21 should be habit by now. If it's not: set phone calendar blocks for every task. Systems beat motivation 100% of the time.
- Subcontracting prep (if at $1,500+/month): You can scale past the solo ceiling by subcontracting editing to a Fiverr or UpWork editor ($5–$15/video). You film, they edit. Your margin: charge $150, pay $15 edit = $135 net. Post on Fiverr: "Looking for CapCut UGC editor — 9:16 vertical, captions, music, fast turnaround."
- Client relationship audit: List all clients you've worked with.
- Tier A: Paid promptly, clear briefs, open to retainer → prioritize
- Tier B: Slow to pay, multiple revision requests → deprioritize
- Tier C: Non-payment risk → stop working with until paid
Output by end of day
Weekly operating system fully scheduled in calendar. Client tier audit complete. Subcontracting decision made (start or wait).
Day29
Final Sprint + 90-Day Plan Build
Phase 4Scale
3 hrs
- Final application sprint: 30 platform applications + 20 DMs + 15 cold emails today. Maximum outreach on Day 29 — these contacts will convert in Days 31–45.
- Build your 90-Day plan:
- Month 2 target: $1,000–$1,500. Method: maintain weekly ops + convert 1 retainer.
- Month 3 target: $2,000–$3,000. Method: 2–3 retainers + AI tool leverage.
- Month 4–6 target: $3,000–$5,000. Method: full retainer stack + variation bundles + subcontracting.
- Identify your top 3 outreach channels by response rate: Look at your Google Sheets tracker. Which channels converted? Billo/JoinBrands, Instagram DMs, or cold email? Double down on your top channel in Month 2.
Output by end of day
65+ total outreach actions today. 90-Day plan written and saved. Top 3 channels identified from tracker data.
Day30
30-Day Snapshot + Scale Logic
Phase 4Scale
1.5 hrs
- 30-Day snapshot — fill in your actual numbers:
- Total earned: $______
- Total videos delivered: ______
- Active clients: ______
- Platform applications sent: ______
- DMs sent: ______
- Emails sent: ______
- Retainer conversations: ______
- Scale logic — what to double down on:
- If platforms are your top converter: apply to 30+/day in Month 2.
- If DMs are your top converter: scale to 20/day with Film Once Deliver Six pitch.
- If cold email is your top converter: scale to 20/day + add LinkedIn.
- Kill everything that has 0 responses after 30+ attempts.
- Retainer compounding math: Every retainer you lock in has a 70–80% renewal rate. 2 retainers at $1,200 = $2,400/month. Upsell to 8 videos at $2,200 = $4,400/month. This compounds. Keep every retainer client happy — they're worth 12× a one-off.
- When to add AI tools (clear decision criteria):
- Add ElevenLabs/CapCut Pro at $500+ earned.
- Add Arcads/Creatify/HeyGen at $1,500+/month consistently.
- Add subcontracting at $2,000+/month and 8+ videos/week demand.
Output by end of day
30-Day snapshot complete. Scale logic documented. 90-Day retainer compounding plan written. Month 2 primary channel identified and scheduled in weekly ops.

5 Unfair Advantages
01
The Volume Asymmetry
90% of UGC beginners send 5–10 applications and quit. The creators hitting $2K–$3K by Day 90 sent 30–50 applications in week 2 alone. The market is not saturated — the application volume is. Send 30+ applications/day for 2 weeks and you're automatically in the top 10% of active creators.
02
No-Face Creators Are Undervalued
Brands consistently post briefs for no-face content (hands, overhead, B-roll) with fewer applicants than on-camera briefs. A Path B creator in pet, tech, or home goods niches faces 50–70% fewer competitors per brief. ElevenLabs + CapCut makes this path indistinguishable from studio-quality at $5/month.
03
Film Once, Deliver Six Pricing Power
Most beginners sell 1 video for $150. The operator move: sell 6 deliverables from 1 filming session for $350–$500. Same 90 minutes of work. 2–3× the revenue. Brands pay for variation testing value, not filming time. Position it as "ad testing package," not "multiple videos."
04
The Retainer Compounding Effect
A $1,200/month retainer (4 videos) renews at 70–80% rate. Your average retainer client pays you $1,200 × 8 months = $9,600 in lifetime value. Two retainer clients = $19,200/year from just 2 relationships. One-off gig hunters will never reach this math.
05
Identity-Specific Niches Are Underserved
Generic "beauty UGC creator" is oversaturated. "UGC creator for Gen-X women's wellness brands" is not. "Dad creating UGC for baby and pet products" is not. "Over-40 male grooming UGC" is not. If you have authentic context — use it as positioning. Brands pay 20–40% more for creators whose identity matches their target customer.

First $500 Plan — Exact Path
Execute in order. Do not skip steps. If a step produces no result after the full effort — escalate to the next step, do not repeat the same action expecting different results.

| 2 | Apply to 20+ JoinBrands campaigns | First invite in 1–2 days | Days 4–6 | Double application volume |
| 3 | Send 10 Instagram DMs/day with portfolio link | 3–5% response rate | Days 6–10 | Expand niche targeting |

Common Mistakes Table
| Mistake | Fix |
| Filming in wrong aspect ratio (not 9:16) | Set phone to vertical before every shoot. Check in CapCut before editing. |
| Using copyright music from YouTube/Spotify | Use CapCut's royalty-free library only. Never add outside music. |
| Over-editing with heavy filters and color grading | Brands want raw, authentic. Light trim + captions + music = done. |
| Sending generic DMs with no personalization | Reference 1 specific product or recent post in every DM. |
| Applying to briefs with no custom pitch | Always write 1–2 brand-specific sentences per application. |
| Delivering files over 100MB | Export at 'High' not 'Highest' quality. Check file size before sending. |
| Pricing below $150 for direct outreach | Charge market rate from Day 1. Undercutting signals low quality. |
| Sending files before receiving payment | 50% upfront rule. No payment = no filming. |
| Not following up on unanswered DMs | Follow up Day 3 and Day 7. Most gigs come from 2nd or 3rd contact. |
| Ignoring no-face path due to camera shyness | 40%+ of successful UGC is no-face. Path B earns equal rates in most niches. |
| Building portfolio slowly (1 video/day) | Film 5 spec videos in 2 days. Speed of build = speed to first gig. |
| Submitting AI video to human-required brief | Read every Billo/JoinBrands brief carefully. Human content only unless AI is specified. |
| Quitting at Day 10 with no gig | Day 10 no-gig = insufficient outreach volume. Check: have you sent 100+ applications? |
| Not asking for testimonials after delivery | Testimonials on Billo/Fiverr directly increase your ranking and invite rate. |

The North Star
Your Day 1 portfolio is still landing deals in Month 6 if you build it right. Volume of outreach and the systems behind it — not raw talent — separate the creators who hit $2K/month from the ones who quit at Day 10. Execute the plan.
