The Money Math: Fees, Pricing & Realistic Milestones

Digital planners are an 82–91% margin product with effectively zero cost of goods. Every pricing decision flows from the current platform fee structure — and from the rule that you sell transformation at $14.99–$39, not stationery at $3.99. Re-verify Etsy and Gumroad fees against their live help pages on the day you list; both platforms have adjusted fee schedules without prior notice in the past.

Etsy Fee Structure (2026)

Fee TypeAmount
One-time shop setup$15–$29 (introduced September 2024)
Listing fee$0.20 per listing, renews every 4 months or per multi-quantity sale
Transaction fee6.5% of total sale (including any shipping or tip)
Payment processing (US)~3% + $0.25 per transaction
Total mandatory fees~10% on a $50 sale, ~7% on a $100 sale, ~4.5% on a $500 bundle
Offsite Ads (under $10k/yr)15% on attributed sales — opt out in Shop Manager
Offsite Ads ($10k+/yr)12% mandatory — permanent lock-in once crossed
Etsy Plus (optional)$10/month for 15 listing credits + $5 ad credit
Critical — Offsite Ads

Auto-enrolled at shop launch. Opt out in Shop Manager > Marketing > Offsite Ads immediately. On a $14.99 planner, a 15% Offsite Ads cut is $2.25 — that erases nearly the entire profit on a low-tier listing. Lock in your opt-out before your first sale. Above $10k lifetime revenue, opting out is no longer permitted.

Gumroad Fee Structure (2026)

Fee TypeAmount
Platform fee10% flat on every sale
Payment processing~2.9% + $0.30
Effective cost on a $20 sale~13% total
Monthly fee$0 — unlimited products, storage, custom domains free
Marketplace trafficNone automatic. Gumroad Discover drives 10–20% for some shops. You drive your own traffic.

Pricing Tiers That Actually Sell

Product TypeEtsy RangeGumroad Range
Single hyperlinked PDF planner (ADHD, dated 2026/2027)$4.99–$14.99$12–$25
Mid-tier guided workbook (career pivot, layoff recovery)$9.99–$26.99$19–$39
Notion template (single use case)$15–$50$25–$60
Bundle / "Suite" (3–5 planners)$19–$49$39–$97
Premium toolkit (planner + prompts + spreadsheets)$35–$60$49–$120
Profit Math

A $14.99 Etsy planner nets ~$13.50 after fees. A $26.99 career pivot planner nets ~$24.30. A $39 Gumroad bundle nets ~$33.95 (~87% margin). With zero cost of goods, every additional sale after the $15–$29 setup fee is near-pure margin.

Honest Reality Check

Day 30 is not financial freedom. Day 30 is proof of concept: 5–10 niche-deep listings live, first 5–10 paying customers, algorithm seeded with conversion data, Pinterest pins compounding in the background. The $800–$3,000/month figure is realistic by Day 60–90 with disciplined uploading, Pinterest pinning, and bundle expansion. Industry average Etsy conversion rate is 1.4%, meaning you need roughly 360 visitors per 5 sales. ADHD-specific planners convert at 3.2× that rate, and long-tail use-case keywords convert at 3.7× generic terms.

Niche & Buyer Intelligence

The single biggest decision in this roadmap is who you build for. The audience is real, growing, and emotionally specific. Generic daily-planner positioning is dead. Hyper-specific transformation positioning is what converts.

Why The Demand Is Real And Growing

  • The ADHD audience is the core buyer: roughly 6% of US adults — about 15.5 million people — carry a current diagnosis, and more than half were diagnosed as adults. Adult-women diagnoses have multiplied several-fold over the past decade. Fewer than 20% of likely-ADHD adults have a formal diagnosis, which means the self-identifying "I need structure" buyer pool is several multiples larger than the clinical count. They buy executive function, not stationery.
  • Search demand is shifting in your favor: Etsy searches for "Notion template" are trending down year-over-year while "GoodNotes planner" searches are trending sharply up. "ADHD planner" remains evergreen with strong dated-planner velocity each year. Build for GoodNotes-first, ADHD-anchored buyers.
  • Career-pivot intent is structurally elevated: sustained tech-sector layoffs and AI-driven role consolidation keep producing a recurring wave of mid-career adults searching for severance trackers, job-search systems, and identity-reset workbooks. The exact monthly numbers shift; the buyer behavior does not.

The Composite Buyer

A 25–45 year old woman. Recently laid off (tech, marketing, customer service, admin), OR returning to work after kids, OR formally/self-diagnosed ADHD adult. Already has Notion / GoodNotes / iPad / Canva familiarity. Mobile-first, impulse purchase under $30, buys out of identity not features ("this is for me"). Posting on X, TikTok, or Threads about pivoting after a layoff.

Top Sub-Niches With Confirmed Demand (Pick One)

Wellness / anxiety / shadow work journalsModerateEvergreen, neurodivergent overlap is the wedge.
Perimenopause symptom tracker + doctor visit prepLow — gapAdjacent women's wellness with active search but few quality listings.
Warning — Saturated Zones

Avoid: "Daily planner" generic (50,000+ Etsy results, you will not rank), "Notion template" generic (search trending down year-over-year), bare "[year] planner" without a use-case modifier, anything labeled "organizer" or "invitations" generically, AI-generated wall art. Generic "ADHD planner" is also saturated — win with audience + use case + format + year + compatibility (e.g., "ADHD Planner for Job Search GoodNotes" beats "Daily Planner" 100×).

What The Planner Must Actually Do

The aesthetic is the front door. The system is what gets bought, used, and reviewed.

  • Hyperlinked tabs on every page — no scrolling means no ADHD friction.
  • "Brain dump" capture pages, sorted by category afterward.
  • Energy-based scheduling (low/medium/high spoon days), not time-based.
  • Weekly career-pivot tracker: applications sent, interviews, informational coffees, portfolio updates.
  • Finance section: severance runway calculator, expense triage, unemployment benefit tracker.
  • Reflection prompts: what's transferable, what's not, what do I actually want.
  • Wins/celebrations page (the dopamine hit that drives 5-star reviews).
  • Calm, neutral, soft-minimalism aesthetic — never colorful kids-planner energy.
  • Sunday AND Monday start versions. A4 AND US Letter versions (28% increase in add-to-cart for region-specific sizing).
  • Compatibility list in description: GoodNotes, Notability, Noteshelf, Notion, Noteful, Zinnia, Freeform, CollaNote.

Buyer Quotes (Use These As Listing Hooks)

  • "I got laid off and I'm pivoting after my AI layoff."
  • "I need structure but every planner feels like more work."
  • "I have ADHD and 47 tabs open and no idea what I'm doing on Monday."
  • "I'm burned out from being burned out."
Identity Drift Warning

The #1 reason new digital planner shops fail: listing 20 different product types so the algorithm can't categorize the shop. Pick ONE primary buyer (e.g., "laid-off tech woman, 32, ADHD"). Every one of your first 10 listings serves that person. 5–10 deep listings beat 50 scattered ones every time.

Etsy SEO Rules (Read Before Listing)

The Etsy algorithm has shifted hard against keyword-stuffing. Old playbooks are now actively penalized. These are the current hard rules — obey them or your listing dies on arrival. Re-check the live rules before launch in case Etsy has issued another update.

RuleCurrent ThresholdPenalty
Title lengthUnder 15 words, lead with the nounFlagged as low quality, ranking tanks

The Title Formula That Works

Format: [Noun] + [Year/Format] + [Top 3 Specifics] + [Compatibility]. Under 15 words. Lead with the noun.

ExampleVerdict
ADHD Planner 2026 | Hyperlinked PDF for GoodNotes & Notability | Career Pivot Edition13 words, lead noun, 3 attributes, compatibility tag — converts
2026 2027 Aesthetic Minimalist Beautiful Perfect Daily Weekly Monthly ADHD Planner Self Care Hyperlinked Gift for Her16 words, filler-stuffed, no lead noun, "gift" belongs in tags — kill
Career Pivot Planner 2026 | Hyperlinked PDF Workbook for Laid-Off Professionals11 words, lead noun, audience specific — converts
Severance Runway Tracker 2026 | ADHD-Friendly Spreadsheet for Tech Layoffs | GoodNotes12 words, lead noun, problem-specific — converts
Where Adjectives Live Now

"Perfect," "beautiful," "aesthetic," "unique," and gift-occasion language no longer belong in titles. They go in (a) tags as multi-word phrases and (b) the description's opening paragraph. Titles lead with the noun, then the year/format, then three specifics. That's it.

Platform Volatility Lesson

Etsy has wiped thousands of shops overnight more than once — the algorithm rewrites without warning. The lesson, baked into this roadmap from Day 1: never rely on Etsy traffic alone. Pinterest pins (3–6 month shelf life) and a Gumroad backend with email capture are non-negotiable. If Etsy zeroes you tomorrow, your email list and Pinterest catalog keep producing.

Phase 1 · Days 1–7

Foundation: Lock The Niche, Build The Flagship

By Day 7 you have one cohesive niche, every account opened, the keyword case validated, and a single hyperlinked flagship planner fully designed and exported. No listings live yet. Depth over speed — a wrong niche fixed in Week 1 is cheap; a wrong niche fixed in Week 4 is the whole month. 2–3 hours per day.

Day01

Niche & Buyer Lock-In + Audience Reality Check

Phase 1 · Foundation
2 hrs
  1. Write a one-sentence buyer profile in a Google Doc using this exact template: "[Age] [gender] [recent life event] who needs [specific outcome] in [specific timeframe]." Example that works: "32-year-old woman, recently laid off from a tech marketing role, undiagnosed ADHD, needs a 90-day job-search operating system she can run from her iPad in GoodNotes." Generic profiles ("women who like planners") get killed in Week 2.
  2. Pick ONE sub-niche from the verified list: 2026 hyperlinked ADHD planner, career pivot workbook, side hustle planner 2026, mental load organizer for SAHM, severance runway tracker, ADHD planner for college students, resume gap workbook, perimenopause tracker, or shadow work / anxiety journal. Do not combine. The shop will be built around this one buyer.
  3. Open etsy.com in an incognito tab and search your sub-niche exactly as your buyer would type it. Open the top 10 listings in tabs. Note: price, number of reviews, title formula, first mockup image, compatibility claims. Save screenshots to a Google Drive folder named /CompetitorIntel.
  4. Install the EverBee Chrome extension (free tier — used by 900K+ Etsy sellers). Re-load each of the top 10 listings and capture estimated monthly sales and revenue. If the median top-10 listing shows under 5 sales/month, the sub-niche is too narrow. If it shows 50+, competition will be brutal — pick a deeper modifier.
  5. Read three buyer reviews on each of three competitor listings. Highlight any 3–4 star review — those are your product gaps. Note what buyers wished was different (more sizes, Monday start, brain dump page, finance section).
  6. Write a 200-word "shop voice" statement: who you serve, what they're going through, why this shop exists. This becomes your About page on Day 2 and your X bio on Day 12.
Tone Reality

The buyer was laid off this month or is staring down the same possibility. They are not browsing for fun. The shop name, About page, and product titles should sound like they were written by someone who has been there — not by a marketer.

End of Day Deliverable

Buyer profile sentence written. One sub-niche locked. Top-10 competitor screenshots and EverBee data saved. 200-word shop voice statement drafted.

Day02

Account Stack: Etsy, Gumroad, Pinterest, Notion, Canva

Phase 1 · Foundation
2–3 hrs
  1. Open your Etsy seller account at etsy.com/sell. Shop name format: a real word or short phrase + a planner/studio/co. suffix (e.g., "PivotEdit," "QuietOSStudio," "ScaffoldDigital"). Avoid keyword-stuffed names — Etsy now penalizes them. Pay the $15–$29 one-time setup fee.
  2. Complete shop profile: 400-character About bio using language from your shop voice statement, square logo (Canva free, 500×500px), banner (Canva free, 1200×300px), shop announcement. Add your specific aesthetic in the shop title field.
  3. Opt out of Offsite Ads immediately: Shop Manager > Marketing > Offsite Ads > Turn off. Do this before any listing goes live. The 15% cut on a $14.99 sale is $2.25 — not survivable on a starter shop.
  4. Connect payment and billing — bank account, tax info, billing for listing fees. Skip Etsy Plus ($10/mo) for now — revisit at Day 60 if you need the listing credits.
  5. Open Gumroad at gumroad.com (free, $0/mo). Create your storefront with the same shop name and logo. You won't list products here until Day 16, but the account is the email-list backbone — Gumroad workflows replace a paid email tool.
  6. Open a Pinterest Business account at business.pinterest.com. Claim your Etsy shop URL under Settings > Claim. Pinterest takes 3–6 months to compound traffic — that's exactly why it starts today.
  7. Open notion.so (free) and canva.com (free tier, Pro trial available — start trial only on Day 5 when design begins, so 30 days of Pro covers your build + first iterations).
End of Day Deliverable

Etsy shop open with full profile, Offsite Ads off. Gumroad, Pinterest Business, Notion, and Canva accounts active. Logo and banner uploaded.

Day03

Keyword Validation with eRank, EverBee & Etsy Autocomplete

Phase 1 · Foundation
2 hrs
  1. Type your sub-niche into the Etsy search bar (etsy.com) without pressing enter. Capture every autocomplete suggestion in a Google Sheet column called "Buyer Phrasing." Repeat with 5 variations ("adhd planner," "adhd planner 2026," "adhd planner job search," "adhd planner career," "adhd planner goodnotes"). These are literal phrases buyers are typing this week.
  2. Open erank.com (free tier is sufficient through Day 14, $5.99/mo Pro after). Run keyword searches on your top 10 candidate phrases. Capture monthly search volume, competition score, and average click count for each. Goal: high volume + low/medium competition phrases.
  3. Build a 20-phrase tag bank in Google Sheets. Columns: Phrase | Monthly Search Volume | Competition | Average Clicks | Used In Listing #. Prioritize 4–5 word phrases over single-word generic tags. Include compatibility tags ("for goodnotes," "for notability," "for notion") and buyer-language phrases ("for laid off mom," "for adhd woman," "career change kit").
  4. Use EverBee Chrome extension to inspect your three top competitors' tag lists. Note any high-performing tag you missed. Add them to the bank.
  5. Write your title formula in the Sheet: [Noun] + [Year/Format] + [Top 3 Specifics] + [Compatibility]. Draft three working titles for your flagship planner — each under 15 words, each leading with the noun.
  6. Validate with Etsy's AI Title Tool if available in your Shop Manager dashboard — paste your draft and review the suggested rewrite. Treat the suggestion as a sanity check, not a mandate.
End of Day Deliverable

20-phrase tag bank with eRank volume + competition data. Three flagship title drafts under 15 words each. Etsy autocomplete buyer phrasing captured.

Day04

Flagship Wireframe + Page-by-Page Outline

Phase 1 · Foundation
2–3 hrs
  1. Sketch your flagship planner on paper or in a Google Doc. Page list for a hyperlinked ADHD / career-pivot planner: Cover · Year at a Glance · Monthly (×12) · Weekly (×52 or undated 4-week blocks) · Daily (template) · Brain Dump · Career-Pivot Tracker (applications, interviews, informational coffees) · Severance Runway Calculator · Energy-Based Schedule · Habit Tracker · Reflection Prompts · Wins Page · Compatibility Notes. Total: 70–120 pages typical.
  2. Decide format mix up front: dated 2026 + undated, A4 + US Letter, Sunday start + Monday start. You will produce two file variants minimum (dated A4 Monday start + undated US Letter Sunday start) in the same Canva design. Region-specific sizing is a documented add-to-cart lift on digital planners — the international buyer pool is meaningful and they bounce on Letter-only files.
  3. Use ChatGPT or Claude (free tier) to generate page-specific content drafts: reflection prompts ("write 25 reflection prompts for someone laid off from a tech role"), affirmations, journal questions, weekly check-in copy. Paste outputs into a Google Doc named /Flagship-Copy. Edit ruthlessly for tone — calm, not bubbly.
  4. Draft your buyer-facing setup guide (1 page PDF, written today, exported in Phase 2). Cover: how to import to GoodNotes, how to import to Notability, where to find hyperlinks, file format, recommended Apple Pencil / stylus, file structure inside the ZIP. Pre-writing this saves 4–8 hrs/month in customer support.
  5. List the hyperlink map on a single page in your Google Doc: every tab on every page, target destination. A 50-page hyperlinked planner has 750+ links. Documenting the map first prevents broken-link rework later.
  6. Decide whether to use Planify Pro (free tier — auto-syncs hyperlinks at export) or manual Canva linking. Planify Pro cuts hyperlinking from 8–15 hours to 1–2 hours. The free tier covers a first planner. Manual Canva linking is fine for a 30-page undated planner but brutal for dated.
The Hyperlink Reality

The single biggest creation time-sink in this niche is hyperlinking. A 50-page planner with 15 navigation tabs = 750+ manual links in Canva. A full-year dated planner is thousands. Plan now for the right tool. Planify Pro's free tier or a smaller first launch are both legitimate paths. What kills shops is starting with 200 pages and surrendering on Day 6.

End of Day Deliverable

Page-by-page wireframe written. Format mix decided (dated/undated, A4/Letter, Sunday/Monday). Setup guide drafted. Hyperlink map documented. Build tool chosen (Planify Pro vs. manual Canva).

Day05

Canva Build: Cover, Master Templates, Brand Kit

Phase 1 · Foundation
3 hrs
  1. Start Canva Pro 30-day free trial (canva.com) — needed for brand kit, premium elements, and the Calendar Builder app. The trial covers your full build + Phase 2 iterations.
  2. Create a new Canva design at 1920×1080px landscape (the standard digital planner aspect ratio for tablet use). Lock in a 4-color palette: one near-black, one off-white, one warm neutral, one accent. Aesthetic must be calm soft-minimalism — never colorful kids-planner energy. This is the buyer's nervous system at stake.
  3. Design the cover page first: planner name, subtitle ("for [audience], 2026"), one botanical or geometric accent, your shop name in small type at the bottom. Save as a master template.
  4. Build master page templates: monthly grid, weekly spread, daily page, brain dump, habit tracker, reflection page. Each template has clearly-named layers (used by Planify Pro for hyperlink auto-mapping, or used by you for manual linking).
  5. Open Canva's free Calendar Builder app (Apps panel inside Canva). Generate dated 2026 monthly pages — auto-fills every month with correct day-of-week alignment. Repeat for Sunday-start and Monday-start versions if your flagship includes both.
  6. Save your brand kit: 4 colors, 2 fonts (one serif for headers, one sans for body), logo. The brand kit cuts every subsequent listing's design time by 60%.
End of Day Deliverable

Cover page designed. Master templates built for monthly, weekly, daily, brain dump, tracker, reflection. Dated 2026 pages generated via Calendar Builder. Brand kit saved in Canva.

Day06

Hyperlink Wiring + PDF Export + GoodNotes Import Test

Phase 1 · Foundation
3–4 hrs
  1. Name every page in Canva using your hyperlink map naming convention (e.g., "01-Cover," "02-Year," "03-Jan," "15-Weekly-Wk1"). Page names are how Canva's link tool finds destinations.
  2. Add navigation tabs to every page: a small persistent row across the top or side (Year · Month · Week · Day · Brain Dump · Career Pivot · Finance · Reflection · Wins). Highlight each tab shape, click the link icon, choose "Pages in this document," select the target page. Repeat for every tab on every page. If using Planify Pro, follow its widget-based linking instead — minutes not hours.
  3. Export the flagship as PDF Print quality (File > Download > PDF Print > Flatten PDF). Resolution: 300 DPI minimum. File size target: under 100 MB total (Etsy's 5-file × 20 MB cap; under 100 MB is safe).
  4. Test the file. Email the PDF to yourself, download on iPad, open in GoodNotes, import as new notebook. Tap every navigation tab on at least 10 sample pages. Any broken link is a refund waiting to happen.
  5. Repeat the import test in Notability if you claim Notability compatibility. Repeat in Notion if you offer a Notion variant. Document any broken behavior in a Google Sheet "Bug List" and fix in Canva before re-exporting.
  6. Produce the second variant: if your flagship is dated 2026 A4 Monday start, build the undated US Letter Sunday start variant by duplicating the design and swapping page sizes + start day. Re-test hyperlinks in the new variant.
Pre-Sale File QA

Buyers refund or 1-star fast for broken hyperlinks and confusing file structures. Every navigation tab must work on every page before this PDF goes anywhere near a listing. Spend the time today — fixing post-launch costs reviews you cannot afford in Week 1.

End of Day Deliverable

Flagship PDF exported (both variants). All navigation tabs hyperlinked. GoodNotes (and Notability if relevant) import test passed. File under 100 MB total.

Day07

Week 1 Review + Self-Use Trial + Listing Asset Inventory

Phase 1 · Foundation
2 hrs
  1. Use the flagship yourself for the next 7 days, starting today. Import it to your own iPad in GoodNotes. Fill in real entries — brain dump, weekly tracker, finance. If something feels clunky to use, it will feel clunky to the buyer. Log every friction point in your Bug List.
  2. Inventory your listing assets: PDF flagship (dated variant), PDF flagship (undated variant), setup guide PDF, ZIP containing all files, cover image (1000×1500px Pinterest-ready), 6 mockup placeholders (built Day 8). Confirm everything is in /Flagship-Final on Google Drive.
  3. Re-read your Day 1 buyer profile and your Day 3 title formula. Adjust if Week 1 work revealed a sharper angle. Better to revise the buyer sentence now than to launch 5 listings against a soft target.
  4. Audit your account stack: Etsy live with profile and Offsite Ads off, Gumroad ready, Pinterest Business with shop claimed, Notion and Canva accounts active, EverBee and Planify Pro installed. Anything missing gets fixed today.
  5. Plan Phase 2: Day 8 = mockups + first listing live, Day 9 = title/tag/description treatment, Day 10 = Pinterest pin batch, Day 11 = variant listings 2–3, Day 12 = X account, Day 13 = first 3–5 network sales, Day 14 = review. Write this in your tracking spreadsheet.
End of Day Deliverable

Week 1 complete. Flagship is being self-tested. All listing assets inventoried in /Flagship-Final. Buyer profile and title formula confirmed. Phase 2 plan written.

Phase 2 · Days 8–14

Momentum: First Listings, First Sales

The flagship goes live, two variants follow, Pinterest pins start compounding, and your network ships you the first 3–5 sales — the seed the algorithm needs to start ranking you organically. Day 14 ends with 3–5 listings live and proof of concept. 2–3 hours per day.

Day08

Mockup Sprint + First Flagship Listing Drafted

Phase 2 · Momentum
3 hrs
  1. Build 8 listing mockups in Canva. Required set: (1) iPad-in-scene with the planner on screen, (2) close-up of cover, (3) two-page weekly spread on iPad, (4) brain dump page mockup, (5) finance / severance tracker close-up, (6) compatibility callout graphic ("Works in GoodNotes · Notability · Notion · Noteshelf · CollaNote"), (7) "what's included" infographic (page count, sizes, variants), (8) before/after testimonial-style ("47 tabs → 1 planner"). Flat-PDF screenshots are dead — iPad-in-scene mockups are the standard.
  2. Use Smartmockups (free tier, integrated into Canva) or Placeit for the iPad scenes. Drop your PDF screenshots into iPad-in-scene templates — desk, bed, café, journaling flat lay.
  3. Draft the first listing in Etsy: Shop Manager > Listings > Add a listing. Category: Craft Supplies & Tools > Planning > Planners. Type: Digital. Upload all 8 mockups. The first mockup is the thumbnail — it should be the iPad-in-scene + compatibility callout overlay, not the cover alone.
  4. Upload the flagship files: 1 ZIP containing the dated A4 Monday PDF + undated US Letter Sunday PDF + setup guide PDF. Confirm ZIP is under 20 MB. If over 20 MB, split into two files or upload separate PDFs (Etsy allows 5 files per listing).
  5. Set price: start at $14.99 for the flagship single. This is the mid-tier ADHD planner price point that the current market supports. Resist the $3.99–$6.99 race-to-bottom — Manifestable's catalog converts at that price but the math only works at 9,919+ reviews of velocity. You have zero.
  6. Do not publish yet. The listing draft sits in your Etsy "Drafts" while you finalize title, tags, and description tomorrow.
End of Day Deliverable

8 listing mockups built (iPad-in-scene primary). Flagship listing drafted in Etsy with files uploaded, price set to $14.99, ready for title/tag/description tomorrow.

Day09

Title, 13 Tags, Description — Then Publish

Phase 2 · Momentum
2–3 hrs
  1. Write the final title using your Day 3 formula. Under 15 words. Lead with the noun. Three specifics. One compatibility tag. Example: "ADHD Planner 2026 | Hyperlinked PDF for GoodNotes & Notability | Career Pivot Edition." Run it through Etsy's AI Title Tool for a sanity check.
  2. Fill all 13 tags using your Day 3 tag bank. Each tag is a 2–4 word phrase. Move all gift/occasion/adjective language here. Mix: 4 audience tags ("for laid off mom," "for adhd woman"), 4 use-case tags ("career change kit," "job search tracker"), 3 format tags ("hyperlinked pdf," "goodnotes planner"), 2 year/seasonal tags ("2026 planner," "new year reset").
  3. Write the description in this exact structure: (a) Opening hook — mirror buyer pain in their language: "You got laid off. Your nervous system is shot. Every planner you've tried feels like more work. This one doesn't." (b) What it does — 4–6 buyer outcomes. (c) What's included — exact page count, file types, sizes (A4 + US Letter), start day variants (Sunday + Monday), compatibility list (GoodNotes, Notability, Noteshelf, Notion, Noteful, Zinnia, Freeform, CollaNote). (d) How to import — 3-step instruction with link to your setup PDF. (e) FAQ — 3 anticipated questions answered.
  4. Set attributes: color (neutrals), style (minimalist), occasion (year planning / new year). Add your shop section ("ADHD Planners" or "Career Pivot Toolkit" — match your niche identity).
  5. Publish the listing. Confirm it appears live in your shop and in incognito Etsy search for your exact title phrase (it should appear within minutes for direct phrase match; broader search will take 48–72 hours).
  6. Buy your own listing as a test (or have a trusted contact buy with refund agreement). Confirm the download experience: instant link in Etsy purchase receipt, ZIP opens, files import cleanly. File delivery friction is a major source of abandonment and one-star reviews — confirm yours has none.
End of Day Deliverable

Flagship listing #1 LIVE with final title, 13 tags, full structured description, and confirmed delivery experience.

Day10

Pinterest Foundation: 10 Boards + First 30 Pins

Phase 2 · Momentum
3 hrs
  1. Build 10 niche-specific Pinterest boards. Each board title is a search-ready phrase that Google will index: "Hyperlinked ADHD Planner Ideas," "Career Pivot Worksheets," "Layoff Recovery Planning," "Severance Runway Tracking," "GoodNotes Digital Planner Setup," "Minimalist Planner Aesthetic," "ADHD Job Search," "Mom Return to Work," "Energy Based Scheduling," "Wins Tracker Pages." Each board gets a 200-character keyword-rich description.
  2. Create 30 pins (10 of your listing + 20 curated). Pins are 1000×1500px vertical, bold text overlay, iPad-in-scene lifestyle as the image. Pin design takes 2 minutes each in Canva once you have a template. Your 10 listing pins each link directly to your Etsy listing URL.
  3. Write keyword-rich pin descriptions for the 10 listing pins. Format: "[Buyer phrasing] · [Use case] · 2026 [year tag] · GoodNotes hyperlinked · [Etsy shop name]." Example: "ADHD planner 2026 for laid-off tech women. Hyperlinked PDF, GoodNotes compatible, severance runway tracker included. Calm minimalist design. PivotEditStudio."
  4. Pin all 10 listing pins today across the 10 boards (1 pin per board, choose the most relevant board). Then pin 20 curated pins (non-promotional aesthetic / planning / ADHD-related content from other sources) across all boards to establish topical authority.
  5. Validate Rich Pins. Use the Pinterest URL debugger to validate your Etsy listing URL — once approved, Rich Pins display price and "Buy" buttons.
  6. Start Tailwind free trial at tailwindapp.com (20 free scheduled pins). Schedule 14 pins across the next 7 days at Pinterest's optimal posting times for your audience (typically 8–11pm ET for US lifestyle audience).
Pinterest Timeline

Pinterest is the long game. Pins have months-to-years shelf life. Meaningful traffic appears at 3–6 months and compounds afterward. Some sellers hit 50K monthly views to their Etsy shop from Pinterest alone. Quitters quit at Week 4. Pinning starts today specifically because it takes that long to compound.

End of Day Deliverable

10 Pinterest boards live with descriptions. 30 pins published (10 listing + 20 curated). Rich Pins validated. Tailwind scheduling 14 pins across next 7 days.

Day11

Variant Listings 2 + 3 (Bundle Spin-Offs of Flagship)

Phase 2 · Momentum
2–3 hrs
  1. Spin two variants from the flagship without redesigning from scratch. Listing 2: the same planner but undated only (separate listing at $9.99 — lower price point captures buyers who don't want to commit to dated). Listing 3: an extracted single-section product — e.g., "Severance Runway Tracker 2026 — Standalone Spreadsheet for Laid-Off Tech Workers" at $7.99. These two listings use 80% of the assets you already have.
  2. Each variant gets its own under-15-word title using the same formula. The titles must be visibly different — Etsy penalizes duplicate or near-duplicate titles. Listing 2 leads with "Undated." Listing 3 leads with the standalone tool name.
  3. Each variant gets its own 13 tags (rotate 4–5 tags from the flagship, swap in 4–5 variant-specific tags). Each gets its own description with the same 5-part structure.
  4. Each variant gets its own mockup set (at minimum 5 mockups — recycle 3 from flagship, build 2 unique). Listing 3's primary mockup should be the spreadsheet on an iPad with a clear "track your runway" overlay.
  5. Publish both variants. You now have 3 listings live — 3 simultaneous honeymoon windows open. New Etsy listings get an algorithmic visibility boost in their first 7 days.
  6. Pin both new variants to Pinterest immediately (one pin per relevant board, 4 boards per listing).
End of Day Deliverable

Listings 2 (undated variant) and 3 (severance tracker standalone) live. 3 listings total. 3 honeymoon windows firing. Variant pins added to Pinterest.

Day12

X Account Live + Story-of-the-Pivot Posts

Phase 2 · Momentum
2 hrs
  1. Open or repurpose an X account using your shop name. Bio: pull from your Day 1 shop voice statement, under 160 characters. Pin a tweet that explains who you build for and why. Link your Etsy shop URL in the profile.
  2. Post 5 tweets today, all written from your real voice (laid-off, building this thing, here's what I learned). Examples: (1) "Day 12 of building a planner for laid-off ADHD women. Just shipped a severance runway tracker because mine ran out faster than I expected. Link in bio." (2) "47 tabs open. 0 next steps. This is the screen that built the planner." (3) Screenshot of your weekly tracker page with one line of caption. (4) Reply to an @gregisenberg or @dylanjahraus thread with a specific tactical observation. (5) Thread: "5 things I'm building into my planner that every layoff-recovery PDF gets wrong."
  3. Use these hashtags strategically (1–2 per post max — X penalizes hashtag spam): #DigitalProducts2026, #LaidOff, #CareerPivot, #ADHDWomen, #SideHustle2026, #EtsySeller.
  4. Follow and engage with: @dylanjahraus, @AlexGroberman_, @gregisenberg, @NicheForgeHQ, @etsy. Leave one substantive reply on each — not "great post," but a specific operator observation.
  5. Repurpose tweets to Threads and Bluesky (5 minutes total). Same content, three channels, near-zero marginal effort.
End of Day Deliverable

X account live with bio + pinned tweet + 5 posts. Engaged with 5 relevant accounts. Content repurposed to Threads and Bluesky.

Day13

Network Sales Seed: First 3–5 Buyers Inside 24 Hours

Phase 2 · Momentum
2 hrs
  1. Make a list of 15 people in your real network who match or know the buyer: friends going through layoffs, former co-workers, anyone you've mentioned the project to, friends with ADHD, anyone in a job search Slack/Discord. Be specific — generic "all friends" blasts don't convert.
  2. Send a personal message to each. Template: "I built a planner for [their exact situation]. It's live on Etsy. Would love if you bought it at full price — the algorithm needs the first 5 sales to start ranking it. Real review afterward, brutally honest, would help me even more. Link." No discount codes. No "favor to me." Full price, real product, real review.
  3. Track responses in a Google Sheet: Name | Message Sent | Purchased | Reviewed. Target 3–5 confirmed purchases in 24 hours. These are the algorithm seed — Etsy's algorithm needs conversion data to begin organic ranking.
  4. When each sale comes through, send the buyer a short thank-you message via Etsy's message system (within 1 hour of sale ideally — fast response is a Star Seller metric). Ask them to message back any setup issues so you can fix in real time.
  5. Do not ask for positive reviews — that violates Etsy policy. Do ask for honest reviews. "Whatever you actually think — the rougher the better, it makes me sharper."
  6. Use the new sales to write your first "social proof" X post: "Day 13, 3 sales in 24 hours from real users. Here's what they said and what I'm fixing for v2." Screenshots welcome.
Network Sales Are Legitimate

Asking your network to buy at full price is not a hack — it's exactly how new Etsy shops cross the cold-start problem. The algorithm needs conversion data; your network has buyers who match your target. The two things you do not do: (1) buy your own listing repeatedly to fake sales (Etsy detects and bans), and (2) ask for positive reviews (Etsy bans). Real product + real money + honest reviews from your network is the standard play.

End of Day Deliverable

15 personal messages sent. 3–5 real network sales confirmed at full price. Thank-you messages sent. Algorithm conversion seed planted. First social-proof post live.

Day14

Week 2 Review + Tracking Spreadsheet + Phase 3 Plan

Phase 2 · Momentum
2 hrs
  1. Open Etsy Shop Manager > Stats. Capture in your tracking spreadsheet: views per listing, favorites per listing, visits per listing, orders, revenue, conversion rate. Calculate view-to-favorite rate and favorite-to-sale rate per listing. Wall-art listings convert at 2–4% — planners convert lower (1.4% industry average, 3.2× higher in ADHD-specific) so even 1 sale per 30 views is a green signal.
  2. Identify your top-viewed listing of the three. That listing's title + thumbnail combination is working — apply its winning angle to the next listing in Phase 3. Identify the lowest-viewed listing — either the title is wrong or the thumbnail is wrong (rarely both, never the product itself).
  3. Review your Pinterest analytics. Total impressions, total saves, click-throughs to Etsy. At Day 14, expect early signal only — Pinterest compounds at 3–6 months. Note which pins are getting impressions and double down on that style.
  4. Read every buyer review and every buyer message. Document any setup confusion or feature requests in a "Product Backlog" Google Doc. The next listing should solve at least one of these issues.
  5. Write your Phase 3 plan: Day 15 = listings 4–5 (apply Week 2 learnings), Day 16 = Gumroad bundle live, Day 17 = Notion Marketplace submission, Day 18 = TikTok/Reels cycle, Day 19 = Pinterest cadence, Day 20 = Search Visibility Dashboard audit, Day 21 = review. Confirm you'll hit 5–8 listings by Day 21.
End of Day Deliverable

Week 2 stats captured. Top and bottom listings identified. Pinterest baseline noted. Product backlog written from real buyer feedback. Phase 3 plan locked.

Phase 3 · Days 15–21

Traffic Engine: Off-Platform Distribution & The First Organic Sale

5–8 listings live, the first Gumroad bundle in market, Notion Marketplace submitted for free distribution, TikTok/Reels content cycle running, and Pinterest pinning daily. The first organic Etsy sale — a buyer you did not personally know — lands this week. 2–3 hours per day.

Day15

Listings 4 + 5: Solve One Buyer Backlog Item Each

Phase 3 · Traffic Engine
3 hrs
  1. Review your Day 14 product backlog. Pick the top two requests/gaps and convert them into listings 4 and 5. Examples: a standalone "Interview Tracker Spreadsheet for Job Search 2026" (Google Sheets, $5.99) and a "Mental Load Organizer for Moms Returning to Work 2026" (PDF hyperlinked, $14.99). Pick gaps that match your locked buyer.
  2. Design each new listing using your existing Canva brand kit + master templates. With templates pre-built, a new listing takes 90 minutes start to finish, not 8 hours.
  3. Each listing follows the full launch protocol: under-15-word title, 13 tags from your bank, 5-part description, 6+ mockups including iPad-in-scene, attributes filled, shop section assigned.
  4. Publish both. You now have 5 listings live across 2 use-cases inside your niche. The algorithm starts recognizing your shop as the canonical source for [niche + use-case combination].
  5. Pin both new listings to Pinterest immediately. Add 5 fresh curated pins to your 10 boards (mixed in with promotional pins to maintain ratio).
  6. Post on X about the new listings — frame as "solving a specific reader request," not "new product launch." Specific is interesting; generic is invisible.
End of Day Deliverable

Listings 4 and 5 live, each solving one buyer-backlog gap. 5 listings total. New pins seeded on Pinterest. X post live.

Day16

Gumroad Bundle: All 5 Listings as One $39 Suite

Phase 3 · Traffic Engine
2–3 hrs
  1. Log into your Gumroad account at gumroad.com. Create a new product. Title it as a "Suite" not a bundle: "The Layoff Recovery Suite 2026 — 5 Planners, Trackers & Templates for Career Pivot." Price: $39 (the standard 5-product bundle pricing tier in this niche). This is roughly $33.95 net after Gumroad fees — about an 87% margin.
  2. Upload all 5 of your Etsy product files into the single Gumroad product (no 20 MB limit on Gumroad). Add a 1-page "welcome & how to use this suite" PDF as a 6th file.
  3. Write the Gumroad product description with the same 5-part structure as your Etsy listings, but with two additions: (a) a "why a suite, not pieces" paragraph explaining the discount math ($14.99 + $14.99 + $9.99 + $7.99 + $5.99 = $53.95 individually, $39 as a suite — buyer saves $14.95), and (b) a "join the email list for the next planner" callout.
  4. Set up Gumroad's built-in welcome email workflow. New buyer triggers: (1) instant delivery of files, (2) 1-hour-later setup-tips email, (3) 7-day-later "how are you using it" check-in, (4) 14-day-later "what's next" announcement of upcoming products. This is your email list — Gumroad replaces a paid email tool entirely.
  5. Add a Gumroad pin to all 10 Pinterest boards. Description leads with the savings angle: "5 planners for $39, normally $53.95. Layoff recovery suite for laid-off ADHD women 2026."
  6. Post the Gumroad bundle on X with the bundle math. Cross-post to Threads and Bluesky.
Why Gumroad Backend Matters

Etsy owns the customer relationship. You cannot email Etsy buyers outside the message system unless they opt into your Gumroad. Etsy has wiped thousands of shops overnight in past algorithm shifts — your Gumroad email list is the only asset they cannot take away. Every Etsy buyer who joins your Gumroad email becomes a 6-month customer, not a one-time transaction.

End of Day Deliverable

Gumroad "Layoff Recovery Suite" live at $39. Welcome email workflow active. Bundle pinned to Pinterest. Cross-posted to X/Threads/Bluesky.

Day17

Notion Marketplace Submission + Notion Variant Build

Phase 3 · Traffic Engine
2–3 hrs
  1. Build a Notion variant of your flagship in your own Notion workspace. Use Notion databases for trackers (career pivot tracker, severance runway, brain dump), pages for monthly/weekly/daily, and toggle blocks for the energy-based scheduling. Use the product yourself for 24 hours — it must work, not just look like Notion.
  2. Set up template sharing: in your Notion page, click Share > Publish to web > toggle "Allow duplicate as template." This generates the customer-facing URL. The customer flow: buy → receive URL → click "Duplicate" → it copies to their own Notion workspace.
  3. List the Notion variant on Etsy as a separate listing. Title: "ADHD Job Search OS in Notion · 2026 Template for Laid-Off Professionals" (under 15 words, lead noun, audience-specific). Price: $19 (mid-range for niche-specific Notion templates in the current market). 13 tags, 6+ mockups (screenshots of the Notion workspace on desktop + mobile).
  4. Submit the Notion variant to the free Notion Marketplace. Category: Career or Personal or Productivity (pick the one matching your niche). The marketplace is free distribution most planner sellers ignore — meaningful free traffic.
  5. Pin the Notion variant to Pinterest. Cross-post launch announcement to X with screenshot of the workspace.
  6. Update your Etsy shop section. Create a new section: "Notion Templates." Assign the Notion variant to it. Sections improve navigation and signal niche depth to the algorithm.
End of Day Deliverable

Notion variant built and self-tested. Listing 6 (Notion template) live on Etsy at $19. Submitted to free Notion Marketplace. Pinned to Pinterest. 6 listings total.

Day18

TikTok / Reels / Shorts: 3 Videos In One Recording Session

Phase 3 · Traffic Engine
2–3 hrs
  1. Set up your iPad on a stand with GoodNotes open to your flagship planner. Use your phone in portrait orientation to record. Faceless content is the dominant format in this niche — your iPad screen + your hand + your stylus is the entire visual.
  2. Record three short-form videos in one sitting: (1) "30-second tour of my severance runway tracker" — pan across the page, voiceover the key features. (2) "How I use this every Monday" — film yourself doing a 90-second Monday review. (3) "3-minute setup walkthrough" — record yourself importing the planner into GoodNotes from scratch. The setup walkthrough doubles as your post-purchase welcome video.
  3. Edit in CapCut (free) or directly in TikTok/Instagram. Add captions (most viewers watch with sound off). Add an on-screen embed of your Etsy URL on the last frame. Use trending audio sparingly — search "ADHD" or "career pivot" in TikTok audio to find current niche audio.
  4. Post all three videos same day, staggered: morning, afternoon, evening. Cross-post to Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. Use hashtags: #DigitalProducts2026, #ADHDPlanner, #LaidOff, #CareerPivot, #GoodNotesPlanner, #DigitalPlanner.
  5. Embed timestamps in the YouTube Shorts description for SEO: "0:05 — Cover · 0:12 — Weekly · 0:20 — Severance tracker · 0:28 — Brain dump." YouTube indexes timestamps as separate search results.
  6. Document the recording template in a Google Doc — frame angles, lighting, voiceover script structure. You'll record 3 videos per week from now on. The template means each batch takes 90 minutes, not 5 hours.
End of Day Deliverable

3 short-form videos recorded, edited, posted to TikTok + Reels + YouTube Shorts. Recording template documented for weekly batching.

Day19

Pinterest Cadence: 5 Pins/Day Schedule + Board Audit

Phase 3 · Traffic Engine
2 hrs
  1. Open Pinterest analytics. After 9 days of pinning, you have baseline data. Identify your top 3 pins by impressions and top 3 boards by overall traffic. Double-down: build 2 more pin variations for each top pin (different mockup, different text overlay).
  2. Set a daily Pinterest pinning schedule: 5 fresh pins per day, 7 days a week. Mix: 2 listing pins (rotating across your 6 listings), 2 curated aesthetic pins, 1 "behind the scenes" pin (a screenshot of your design process, a quote graphic from your X content). Consistency outranks volume — the algorithm rewards daily activity.
  3. Use Tailwind's free tier (20 scheduled pins) to schedule the next 4 days of pins in one sitting. Schedule pins for 8–11pm ET (peak window for US lifestyle audience).
  4. Audit your 10 boards. Any board with under 30 pins gets 10 curated pins added today. Boards with under 30 pins look abandoned to the algorithm and Google.
  5. Add 2 new boards based on Pinterest's "Trending" tab for your niche. Sample boards to consider for this audience: "Vision Board Aesthetic," "Year-End Review Template," "Quiet Quitting Recovery." Match to your niche before adding.
  6. Publish 1 fresh "story format" pin (idea pin, 5–10 slides) walking through how to use the flagship. Idea pins get elevated Pinterest distribution.
End of Day Deliverable

Pinterest daily cadence (5 pins/day) set. Top 3 pins/boards identified and doubled-down. 4 days of pins scheduled in Tailwind. Boards audited; 2 new boards added. 1 idea pin published.

Day20

Etsy Search Visibility Dashboard Audit + Title Fixes

Phase 3 · Traffic Engine
2 hrs
  1. Open Shop Manager > Marketing > Search Visibility (or "Search analytics" depending on dashboard version). Etsy now explicitly flags which of your listings have reduced visibility and the reason — title quality, low CVR, missing attributes, image quality.
  2. For any listing flagged as reduced visibility, read the reason and apply the fix. Title quality flag = rewrite using your formula. Low CVR flag = swap the primary mockup. Missing attributes = fill them in. Image quality = re-export at higher resolution.
  3. Confirm Offsite Ads is still off (Shop Manager > Marketing > Offsite Ads). Some sellers report the toggle silently flips back during account updates. Verify monthly.
  4. Use EverBee to scan your own listings and compare to top-3 competitors per listing. Look for: missing tag categories, weaker mockup angle, tighter title formula. Apply only one change per listing — Etsy needs 2–4 weeks of clean data to measure the impact of a change.
  5. Confirm tracking spreadsheet is up to date: views, favorites, sales per listing through Day 20. Note any listing approaching 100 views with zero sales — that's a thumbnail or pricing problem, not a product problem.
  6. Publish 1 fresh listing if you have an asset ready (e.g., a smaller standalone tracker at $5.99). Maintain upload rhythm — the algorithm rewards recency.
First Organic Sale

Around Day 18–22 is when first-time shops typically receive their first organic Etsy sale — a buyer you did not personally know. That sale is the proof you are searchable. If you reach Day 21 with zero organic sales (sales beyond your network seed), the issue is almost always (a) too-narrow tags, (b) thumbnail that doesn't communicate the product instantly, or (c) price too low and signaling low-value. Audit in that order.

End of Day Deliverable

Search Visibility Dashboard audited. Flagged listings fixed (one change each). Offsite Ads confirmed off. 1 additional listing published (running total: 7).

Day21

Week 3 Review + 30-Day Trajectory Check

Phase 3 · Traffic Engine
2 hrs
  1. Update tracking spreadsheet with Week 3 data: total listings live, total views, total favorites, total sales, total revenue, conversion rate per listing. Compare to Week 1 baseline — total daily views should be 2–4× higher.
  2. Capture Gumroad stats: bundle sales, total revenue, email list size (count subscribers via Gumroad audience). Your email list is your single most valuable asset by Month 3.
  3. Capture Pinterest stats: total impressions, total saves, click-throughs to Etsy. At Day 21, expect single-digit click-throughs — Pinterest compounds at 3–6 months. Note your top 3 boards and top 3 pins.
  4. Run your 30-day trajectory check. With 6–8 listings, 1 Gumroad bundle, and Pinterest seeded, you should be tracking toward $50–$400 in Month 1 revenue. If at zero revenue past your network seed by Day 21, audit your thumbnails first and pricing second.
  5. Identify your top-revenue listing (or top-favorite listing if no sales yet beyond network). Plan to build 2 more listings adjacent to this winner in Phase 4 — same buyer, similar use case, slightly different angle.
  6. Write your Phase 4 plan: Day 22 = listings 6–7, Day 23 = mockup rotation, Day 24 = welcome sequence v2, Day 25 = listing 8 + listing audit, Day 26 = review velocity push, Day 27 = top performer refresh, Day 28 = Month 2 calendar, Day 29 = 90-day projection, Day 30 = snapshot.
End of Day Deliverable

Week 3 data captured across Etsy, Gumroad, Pinterest. 30-day trajectory assessed. Top performer identified for adjacent expansion. Phase 4 plan written.

Phase 4 · Days 22–30

Scale & Optimize: The System That Runs Past Day 30

Catalog reaches 8–10 listings, email welcome sequence locked, top performers refreshed, mockups rotated, and Month 2 calendar fully scheduled before Day 30 ends. The objective of this phase is not more sales — it is a system that compounds without you having to reinvent it. 2–3 hours per day.

Day22

Listings 7 + 8: Adjacent To Your Top Performer

Phase 4 · Scale & Optimize
3 hrs
  1. Take the top-performing listing from Day 21 review. Build two adjacent listings around it. If your top performer is the "Severance Runway Tracker," adjacent listings could be: "Unemployment Benefit Tracker by State 2026 — Google Sheets" ($5.99) and "Job Search Pipeline Dashboard 2026 — Notion + Google Sheets Bundle" ($14.99). Same buyer, same moment, different angle.
  2. Apply your established workflow: Canva brand kit + master template + ChatGPT-assisted copy + EverBee tag intel. Each new listing should take under 2 hours of design time at this point in your workflow maturity.
  3. Run full launch protocol on each: under-15-word title, 13 tags, 5-part description, 6+ mockups including iPad-in-scene, attributes filled, shop section assigned, file QA tested in GoodNotes.
  4. Publish both. Running total: 8 listings live. With 8 listings inside one tight niche, the algorithm now reads your shop as a category authority — not a tourist.
  5. Pin both new listings to Pinterest. Add to Tailwind queue. Cross-post launch announcements to X/Threads/Bluesky.
  6. Record one quick walkthrough video (60-second TikTok/Reel) of one of the new listings. Post same day.
End of Day Deliverable

Listings 7 and 8 live (adjacent to top performer). 8 total listings. Pinned, scheduled, posted. 1 walkthrough video published.

Day23

Mockup Rotation: Refresh Primary Image on All 8 Listings

Phase 4 · Scale & Optimize
2 hrs
  1. Build 8 new primary mockups in Canva — one per listing. Each new primary swaps the iPad-in-scene angle (e.g., from "iPad on bed with mug" to "iPad on desk with planner page visible"). Fresh first images trigger a brief Etsy visibility boost.
  2. Update each listing's first image (Listings > Edit > drag the new mockup to position 1). Move the prior primary to position 4 — it's still a good image, just no longer the thumbnail.
  3. Apply the "compatibility callout" overlay text to each new primary mockup: "Works in GoodNotes · Notability · Notion · Noteshelf." Etsy buyers scan thumbnails for compatibility signals as much as for aesthetic.
  4. Save all new mockups to /Mockups-Final in Google Drive with naming convention [Listing#]-[Date]-[Mockup#].png. Rotate mockups every 90 days from now on.
  5. Confirm no listing has been touched in the title or description since Day 9 — title/description stability is critical to ranking. Mockup swaps are safe; title swaps are not.
End of Day Deliverable

All 8 listings have a refreshed primary mockup with compatibility callout. Old mockups demoted to position 4. New mockup library archived.

Day24

Gumroad Welcome Sequence v2 + Upsell Workflow

Phase 4 · Scale & Optimize
2 hrs
  1. Open Gumroad Workflows. Expand your welcome sequence from the Day 16 version. New 5-email sequence: (1) instant delivery, (2) +1 hour setup tips, (3) +3 days "how to use the brain dump page" (single-feature deep dive), (4) +7 days "the 30-day pivot system explained" (your story + framework), (5) +14 days upsell — a 25% discount on a different product in your suite.
  2. Write each email in calm operator voice. No "buy now buy now." Plain helpful content with one CTA at the bottom. Aim for 250–400 words per email.
  3. Set up a separate workflow for Etsy buyers who opt-in to your Gumroad list via your welcome PDF. Their sequence: (1) thank-you, (2) +3 days "since you bought from Etsy, here's the suite at 25% off," (3) +7 days "what to use first." This is how Etsy traffic becomes owned email list.
  4. Add an opt-in CTA to your setup PDF (the file inside every Etsy purchase ZIP): "Want the next planner free? Subscribe at [Gumroad URL]." Re-export the updated ZIP and replace it in every Etsy listing.
  5. Confirm Gumroad's deliverability: send a test purchase to a clean email, confirm the welcome email arrives within 5 minutes. Spam folder fixes: SPF, DKIM (Gumroad handles these by default, but verify).
Why the Email List Wins

By Month 3 your email list is producing more revenue per send than Etsy organic. The 5-email welcome sequence built today is doing that compounding work in the background while you sleep. Every Etsy buyer who opts in becomes a 6+ month customer — the lifetime value is 3–5× a one-time Etsy sale.

End of Day Deliverable

5-email Gumroad welcome sequence live. Etsy-to-Gumroad upsell workflow active. Updated setup PDF with opt-in CTA pushed to all 8 Etsy listings.

Day25

Listing 9 + Full Catalog Audit (eRank + Search Visibility)

Phase 4 · Scale & Optimize
2–3 hrs
  1. Publish listing 9. Pick a gap from your buyer backlog or another adjacent angle to your top performer. Apply established launch protocol. Total listings: 9.
  2. Run an eRank Listing Audit on all 9 listings. Flag any listing scoring below 70/100. For each flagged listing, apply ONE change only — usually a tag swap from your bank, never a title change.
  3. Open Etsy Search Visibility Dashboard again. Verify any Day 20 fixes have been picked up. New flags should be rare at this point. If any listing has zero views over the past 7 days, it's either misclassified (wrong category/section) or has a thumbnail problem — fix one variable.
  4. Use Etsy's AI Title Tool on your worst-performing title — get a suggested rewrite. Do not apply unless your tracking shows the listing has been stable for 14+ days at zero conversion.
  5. Read every new review and every new buyer message. Reply to every message within 24 hours (Star Seller requires 95% within 24-hour response rate). Document any feature requests in your backlog.
  6. Update Gumroad bundle to include listing 9 — the suite now has 9 products. Update the bundle description with the new product list. Update the "savings vs. individual" math.
End of Day Deliverable

Listing 9 live (9 total). All listings audited via eRank. Search Visibility Dashboard rechecked. Buyer messages answered. Gumroad bundle updated.

Day26

Review Velocity + Star Seller Tracking Setup

Phase 4 · Scale & Optimize
2 hrs
  1. Check your review count. Star Seller eligibility requires 5+ sales and $300 total revenue over a rolling 3-month window, plus 95% on-time delivery (digital = automatic 100%), 4.8+ average rating, and 95% messages answered within 24 hours.
  2. Send a polite follow-up message to every buyer from Days 8–20 who has not yet left a review. Etsy now allows a single non-promotional follow-up. Template: "Hope the planner is working for you. If you have a minute, an honest review (good or bad) helps small shops show up in search. No pressure either way."
  3. Set up an auto-reply for after-hours Etsy messages. Shop Manager > Conversations > Auto-reply > "Thanks for your message — I'll respond within 24 hours. For setup help, the welcome PDF inside your purchase covers most questions. Linked here: [setup PDF]." This single auto-reply preserves your 95% response rate.
  4. Read any review under 5 stars (if any). Identify the actionable feedback — most under-5-star reviews on planners are about file format confusion or missing sizes. Fix in v2 of the product, document the change in the listing description.
  5. Track your Star Seller progression in your spreadsheet: sales count, total revenue, response rate, on-time rate, average rating. Star Seller badge unlocks at Day 90+ for most operators.
End of Day Deliverable

Review follow-ups sent. Auto-reply active. Star Seller tracking spreadsheet live. Any under-5-star feedback addressed in product backlog.

Day27

Top Performer Refresh + Pricing Test (10–15% Up)

Phase 4 · Scale & Optimize
2 hrs
  1. Identify your top 3 listings by sales (or by favorites if sales are still low). These are your scaling signals.
  2. Test a 10–15% price increase on each top performer. A $14.99 flagship becomes $16.99. A $9.99 undated variant becomes $10.99. Track conversion rate for 7 days — at this price tier, conversion typically holds and revenue per sale rises.
  3. Add 1–2 fresh tags to each top performer from current Pinterest trending data. Do not remove existing tags — only add. The point is to test additional discoverability without disturbing the working title/tag combination.
  4. Add a single bonus item to each top performer's ZIP: a 1-page "extra prompts" sheet, a new color variant, or a "2027 add-on starter." Update the description to mention the bonus ("now includes XYZ"). This nudges undecided buyers and refreshes the listing's last-updated date.
  5. Do not touch the title on any top performer. Title stability after a listing starts converting is non-negotiable.
End of Day Deliverable

Top 3 listings priced up 10–15%. Bonus item added to each ZIP. Descriptions refreshed. Titles untouched. 7-day conversion test running.

Day28

Month 2 Calendar + Listing 10 Plan

Phase 4 · Scale & Optimize
2 hrs
  1. Build your Month 2 calendar in Google Sheets. Weekly cadence target: 2 new listings per week, 5 Pinterest pins per day, 3 short-form videos per week, 5 X posts per week, 1 Gumroad email per week, 1 listing audit every Sunday. This becomes your operating procedure for Weeks 5–8.
  2. Plan a Month 2 mid-tier bundle launch. At 10 listings, build a $26.99 mid-tier workbook combining 3 of your standalone trackers into a single guided workbook (e.g., "Career Pivot Operating System: Severance + Pipeline + Reflection"). Target launch: Day 35.
  3. Plan seasonal listings for Q3/Q4. Back-to-school planning aesthetic (August), 2027 dated planners (October launch), year-end review workbooks (November), New Year reset bundles (December). Add 2 seasonal listings to the Month 2 calendar.
  4. Identify which X / TikTok / Pinterest channel is producing best in your tracking spreadsheet. Double the cadence on that one channel in Month 2. Hold the other two channels at their current weekly rate.
  5. Publish listing 10 if you have an asset ready. Otherwise, prepare it tonight for Day 29 publication. Running total: 10 listings (the upper end of the Day 30 target).
End of Day Deliverable

Month 2 calendar built (weekly cadence). Mid-tier bundle scheduled for Day 35. Seasonal listing plan documented. Best channel identified for doubling-down. Listing 10 prepared.

Day29

90-Day Revenue Projection + Listing 10 Live

Phase 4 · Scale & Optimize
2 hrs
  1. Publish listing 10. Apply full launch protocol. 10 listings live by end of day.
  2. Pull complete shop stats: total views, total favorites, total orders, total revenue (Etsy + Gumroad combined), conversion rate per listing, average order value, email list size.
  3. Build your 90-day projection in Google Sheets. Formula: (current weekly revenue) × (listing growth multiplier × Pinterest compounding multiplier). At 10 listings with $20–$30 average revenue per listing per month = $200–$300/month baseline. Add Pinterest compounding (3–6 months to ramp): expect $800–$1,500/month by Day 90 with disciplined cadence.
  4. Identify your single biggest revenue gap. Is it listing count (need more), conversion rate (need better thumbnails or pricing), bundle attach rate (Gumroad upsell not working), or traffic (Pinterest still warming up)? Rank the gap. Solve the top one in Month 2.
  5. Document Month 2–3 priorities in order of revenue impact: (1) listing count to 15–25, (2) mid-tier bundle launch, (3) Pinterest cadence consistency, (4) email list growth via Etsy-to-Gumroad opt-in, (5) Star Seller eligibility at Day 90.
End of Day Deliverable

Listing 10 live (10 total). Full shop stats captured. 90-day revenue projection built. Month 2–3 priorities ranked by revenue impact.

Day30

30-Day Snapshot + Month 2 Plan + What You Own Now

Phase 4 · Scale & Optimize
2 hrs
  1. Write your 30-Day Snapshot in one document. Numbers: total listings live (target 8–10), total sales (target 5–25), total revenue (target $50–$400 combined Etsy + Gumroad), conversion rate, Pinterest impressions, email list size, review count, average rating. Save to Google Drive.
  2. Identify your 3 biggest wins. Which planner format outperformed? Which sub-niche pulled the most favorites? Which channel (Pinterest, X, TikTok, network) drove the most traffic? Which price tier converted best?
  3. Identify your 3 biggest gaps. Listing count below 8? Conversion rate under 1%? No reviews yet? Pinterest impressions under 1,000/week? Email list under 25? Rank the gaps by revenue impact.
  4. Document what you now own — a niche-locked Etsy shop, a flagship hyperlinked PDF planner, a Gumroad bundle backend, a Notion Marketplace listing, a Pinterest account with 30+ pins, an email list capturing every buyer, a 30-day operating dataset, and a Month 2 calendar already built. This is the durable asset stack, not the $50–$400 revenue.
  5. Lock your Month 2 plan as a 1-page operating document. Cadence: 2 listings/week, 5 pins/day, 3 videos/week, 1 Gumroad email/week. Goal: 15–18 listings live and $300–$1,200/month by Day 60. Print the page or pin it inside your Notion dashboard.
End of Day Deliverable

30-Day Snapshot documented. Wins and gaps ranked. Asset stack inventoried. Month 2 plan locked as a 1-page operating document. Day 30 = ignition point, not arrival point.

5 Unfair Advantages of the Etsy Digital Planners Model

The structural reasons this niche works for a laid-off solo operator with a 30-day income horizon — and why it outperforms generic printables, service work, or POD at this stage.

1

Identity-Driven Buying

Digital planner buyers are not buying paper — they are buying a version of themselves. The ADHD planner buyer wants executive function. The career pivot buyer wants a new identity. Identity-driven niches command $14.99–$26.99 instead of the $3–$6 race-to-bottom of generic daily planners.

2

82–91% Margins, Permanently

After Etsy's ~15% effective fee on a $14.99 sale, you keep roughly $12.50. Zero cost of goods, zero shipping, zero fulfillment risk. The same planner sold 200 times has the same production cost as selling it once. Compounding margin is the structural moat against AI commoditization.

3

Niche-Deep, Not Niche-Broad

"Daily planner" returns 50,000+ Etsy results — unrankable for a new shop. "Hyperlinked ADHD planner for layoff recovery" returns under 200. Niche-deep wins the 2026 Etsy algorithm: lower competition, higher conversion intent, identity match, and Pinterest discoverability that the saturated terms have lost.

4

Three-Platform Distribution

Etsy = discovery. Gumroad = backend bundles, email capture, and higher pricing. Notion Marketplace = free distribution and brand authority. No other digital niche has three platform-native distribution channels operating in parallel with this little overhead. The Nov 2025 Etsy traffic event made multi-platform non-negotiable.

5

Compounding Pinterest Asset

Pinterest is the #1 external traffic source for Etsy planners and ramps over 3–6 months. Pins published on Day 10 keep generating impressions on Day 180. By Month 3, the same daily 5-pin cadence that produced 1,000 impressions/week in Month 1 is producing 10,000+. This is the only channel that compounds while you sleep.

The First $500 Plan

The fastest path to $500 in this niche is not selling 100 planners at $5. It's stacking a single flagship, a tightly priced Gumroad bundle, and a mid-tier workbook that captures the highest-intent buyer at the highest sustainable price point.

The Bundle Lever

The math: 10 individual planners at $20/month per listing = $200. Or: 6 individual planners + 1 Gumroad bundle pulling $80/month + 1 Notion template pulling $60/month = $260+ from fewer listings. Every Gumroad bundle sale also feeds your email list — a permanent compounding asset that survives any Etsy algorithm change.

Scaling Logic: Month 2–3

MonthActionsRevenue Target
Month 1
Days 1–30
Niche locked, 8–10 listings live, flagship + 4 variants + bundle + Notion template, Pinterest at 5 pins/day, email list 25–75, first 5–25 sales $50–$400/month
Month 2
Days 31–60
15–18 listings, mid-tier workbook launched at $26.99, Gumroad bundle expanded, Pinterest impressions 5K–15K/week, email list 75–200, first organic Pinterest sales $300–$1,200/month
Month 3
Days 61–90
20–25 listings, premium ecosystem bundle at $49 (planner + workbook + Notion + worksheets), Pinterest 15K–40K/week impressions, Star Seller eligibility window opens, first $1K month possible $800–$3,000+/month
Key Insight

Day 30 is the ignition point, not the arrival point. The operators reaching $3,000–$5,000/month did not do it on Day 30 — they did it by maintaining 2 listings/week, 5 pins/day, and consistent email capture through Month 3 and beyond. The shops that win are the ones still shipping new niche-deep listings in Month 4 while their Pinterest assets from Month 1 compound. Quitters cluster in Days 31–45 — when first-month adrenaline fades and Pinterest hasn't ramped yet. Survive that window and the math turns in your favor.

Common Mistakes — and How to Fix Them

MistakeFix / Correct Action
Choosing "daily planner" or "digital planner" as the niche50,000+ results — unrankable for a new shop. Go niche-deep: hyperlinked ADHD planner, career pivot planner, severance runway workbook, SAHM 2026 planner. Under 1,000 results = realistic ranking window.
Manually hyperlinking 200+ pages by handUse Planify Pro free tier. Auto-hyperlinking turns 8–15 hours of manual work into 30 minutes. Manual linking is the #1 reason planner builders quit in Days 4–6.
Pricing the flagship at $3.99–$5.99 to "compete"Race-to-bottom is Manifestable's strategy at 9,919 reviews. New shops cannot win on price. Identity-driven niches sell at $14.99–$26.99. Lower prices signal lower value to the algorithm AND the buyer.
Titles over 140 characters or with no lead nounFeb 2026 algorithm penalizes long titles. Lead with the noun (Planner, Workbook, Tracker), then 2–3 top-converting attributes, then format. Trim to under 140 chars. Use the eRank title preview.
Skipping the welcome PDFMost under-5-star reviews on digital planners are about GoodNotes import confusion, not the product. A 1-page welcome PDF inside the ZIP cuts message volume by ~60% and lifts review rating.
Forgetting US shipping ≤$6 attributeFeb 2026 update added this as a hard ranking signal. Digital products are auto-compliant ($0 shipping) — but you must explicitly set US shipping to $0 in the listing form. Skipping this drops visibility.
Not opting out of Offsite Ads pre-launchShops under $10K trailing 12-month revenue can opt out. Opt out in Shop Manager > Marketing > Offsite Ads on Day 2 — the 15% cut on a $14.99 sale is $2.25 of unnecessary revenue loss.
Treating Etsy as the only channelNov 2025 traffic wipeout event proved single-platform dependence is fatal. Email capture (Gumroad), Notion Marketplace listing, and Pinterest are non-negotiable from Week 2.
Listing on Notion Marketplace without an Etsy versionMarketplace is brand authority + free distribution, not direct revenue. Always pair with a paid Etsy or Gumroad listing. The Marketplace listing's bio links should drive to your Gumroad shop or Etsy listing.
Posting Pinterest pins without idea pins or fresh pinsPinterest 2026 algorithm prioritizes fresh pins (new images on new dates) and idea pins (multi-frame carousels). 5 fresh pins/day for 90 days = visible traffic ramp. Recycling old pins won't ramp.
Building the planner before validating the nicheDay 1 = niche lock. Day 2 = accounts. Day 3 = keyword validation. Day 4 = wireframe. Build comes Day 5–6. Building before validating is how 70% of planner shops end up with one beautiful listing nobody is searching for.
Stopping uploads after Week 1Etsy rewards listing velocity. Stopping uploads after the Day 7 flagship drop kills your shop's freshness signal by Day 21. Maintain 2 listings/week minimum through Day 90.
Ignoring identity language in descriptions"A planner that helps you pivot careers" loses to "The planner I built after my layoff — for the next 30 days when nothing else feels stable." Identity-buyers buy the story. The product is the receipt.
Posting AI-generated cover art without disclosureEtsy 2026 policy requires AI disclosure in the description. Non-disclosure triggers takedowns. State it plainly: "Cover art designed by seller with AI assistance. Planner content human-written and human-designed."
